It's not widespread so whys anyone caring?

Top selling at Verizon. No big deal. The iPhone is still the top selling smartphone overall.

No real numbers, just analysts doing estimates and what not (you know, like the kind they do for everything and are almost always way off). Also, briefly overtook? What does that mean? It sold a bit more then the iPhone when it launched but quickly dropped back or what?

Weird as well is this:

Update: In a blog post Friday extolling the virtues of Thunderbolt’s really, really fast (9 mbps) connection, Piecyk notes that Verizon informed him that actually, the iPhone 4 outsold the Thunderbolt during its “launch” period, making the iPhone 4 still “Verizon’s most successful phone launch ever.”

When does Verizon announce specific numbers for devices (earnings call or whatever)?

Why does anyone here about what phone is outselling what phone?

Its not like any of us are "winning" if the iPhone is still selling more than the rest. haha

For UK apple fans such as myself it just shows narrow mindedness :p

I kid but this is of no interest to me plus doesn't the battery life suck on the thunderbolt?

Thunderbolt's return rate is surely higher.
Battery life is horrid.
I know from experience- the Thunderbolt is my work issued handset.

So a brand new phone is selling more then a phone that has been out almost a year. Shocking...

OMG! a phone is outselling the iPhone?!

I MUST GET ONE OF THOSE RIGHT NOW SO I CAN BE COOL AND POPULAR!

I would love to know the return % too. All/most androids suffer from poor battery life but i'll blame that on the manufacturers. I think once people see paying $250 for a cool phone that last only a few hours at a time it will change things.

one thing the article hints at is apple is going to have to do more than a new handset every two years with a 'refresh' in between. the rest of the market isn't standing still.

maybe, like the mac, apple will be content in the long run with a small percentage of the market.

Stopped reading right here
oh, but you'd read this. ;)

Oh, and you'd think apple could take some of that $65.8 billion they're worth and make some of their freaking parts in the US.

That was the smart move. ;)

The people who read TNYP are the same people you see on Discovery reporting sightings of the chupacabra.

A mobile bookmark of the TNYP, are you serious?
