Why does anyone here about what phone is outselling what phone?

Its not like any of us are "winning" if the iPhone is still selling more than the rest. haha

No kidding! Who cares, there isn't one magical phone that will satisfy everyone. I kind of wish the iPhone wasn't so popular, everyone I know has one including all my family members.

one thing the article hints at is apple is going to have to do more than a new handset every two years with a 'refresh' in between. the rest of the market isn't standing still.

maybe, like the mac, apple will be content in the long run with a small percentage of the market.

Apple's business model is the type where they simply can't take over a market for long periods of time unless the competition is simply that bad. The MP3 player market just never got it's crap together for the longest time to figure out what the masses wanted vs what gadget geeks wanted.

Apple is content with 2 things: 1) Growing their sales numbers, doubly so if they are beating market growth (Mac). 2) Making a profit while doing so.

Apple is generating more revenue and more profit than any other smartphone OEM in the US right now. Android is already more popular, but no single OEM is getting a large enough piece of that pie to beat Apple in terms of money coming in. In the end, Apple is bringing in money to keep people employed and is in less risk of going under than the competing OEMs. As long as I wasn't concerned about dominating the market percentages, that sounds like an ideal spot for me to be in as a company.

And here come the apologists... right on queue. :D

I hope the TB gives Apple a run for their money. I like my iPhone but Apple has been sitting on its ass here of late. It does us no good to have Apple dominate anything. Why don't some of you fanboy lemmings understand this?

Apple's quarterly numbers are making them too complacent in the phone arena. Other companies will leech some of that market share just by sheer numbers and when this happens I hope the Apple Board lights a fire under Steve's iOS ass.

If Apple wants me for another contract they had better do better than iOS 4.3.2. and my iTunes library sitting in a cloud. (And they'd better do it real soon).

?

I know its a troll thread but...

$2.2m iPhone 4 activations on Verizon in 6 weeks versus 260k in 2 weeks. Even if you optimistically extrapolate for 6 weeks the Thunderbolt still comes up short compared to a phone that's been out for 10months on another network.

Exactly. Android users FAILS at logic and basic math. What's new?

Even if you split it into week by week sales, the iPhone still outsold the TB in every week.

Thunderbolt = 260,000 in two weeks = 130,000 in ONE WEEK
iPhone 4 = 2,200,000 in six weeks = 366,000 in ONE WEEK

So all this Thunderbolt outselling iPhone stuff is all crap. Not to mention Thunderbolt has higher return rates.
