Hi folks,

I'm a new here though I've been using macs for over 20 years - great forum!

I just bought a new RMBP 15" at the Apple store. I'm loving it thus far. I was a huge fan of my last model which was a 13" MBA, but I travel a lot and decided to go to the 15" since I don't dock on the road.

All is going well but I just looked up "About This Mac" and found that it says, "MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014). I'm wondering about the "Mid 2014" part. Since it is a new mac, I thought it would be early 2015. Is this because Mid 2014 was the last time this model (MGXA2LL/A) was updated? Or did I get one of the ones from the "bottom shelf"?

Thanks for your input!

Burns

Mid 2014 is still the current 15" model. Apple almost never does major refreshes on computers until new processors are available. Crystal Well chips are still the cream of the crop quad-cores.

The Broadwell architecture is currently dual-core only.
