iPod Newbe Playlist Question

Hi all..

Just thinking of using the iPod for incar entertainment and I wanted to try to emulate the features of my current Dension HD Mp3 Player.

Is it possible to create a playlist using the iPod itself without using iTunes.

EG. Can I get in the car, and queue up a list of songs to be played just form the ipod it's self?

Highlight a song, press and hold the select button, and it will be added to the On-The-Go playlist.

And in case you didn't know the on-the-go playlist is at the very bottom of your list of playlists.
