Hi,

Realy sorry if this has been asked before, I've had a look through forums and can't find quite what I'm looking for. All I really need on my iphone (5) is a very simple app, not ical (I'm not a fan) where I can add in little things I need to do i.e. email so n so....buy milk....etc to go off at a certain time.....say 3pm on a certain day (recurring would be useful not not essential, i.e. to set the reminder same time/every every week to go off) .

The apps I've tried save the reminder within the app, but do not alert me otherwise, therefore, unless I happen to venture in to said app at the right time, I end up missing my event. What I'm really looking for I guess is an app with push notification, similar to when you set the alarm on the iphone and the little blue button goes off in the middle of the screen, regardless of whether the phone is locked or not. A simple push notification would suffice as long as something alerts me if you get what I mean. I'm not really looking for an expensive/complicated organisation app, but if anyone could help with my quest or knows of a simple process that does this already within the iphone it would much appreciated. :rolleyes:Many thanks!!!

I forgot to add...if an app like this can also be purchased for my mac to work simultaneously, that would be extra useful!

----------

So I can put off whatever I'm supposed to be doing just for a little bit...I'm thinking how pop ups in Outlook work?

Apart from the good default reminders there's 'things' which you can actually import iOS reminders into. So for example let's say I Siri an appointment into reminders I can then go into things and select import from reminders and it does it

Thanks Gooner

Hi, thanks for the reply Gooner, I've got 'Things' already......and good ol' reminders, which as far as i can tell is jus a basic to-do-list. Iv just noticed whilst looking through the reminders help section that 'things' does not offer time-based reminders. Shame as it has a nice clean design which could work really well otherwise. I shall continue the search. I think that's all I need really...time based reminders. With the ability to set them on a certain day, so a calender would also be useful. Or maybe an add on to ical that syncs with it that will offer this.

You can set reminders to go off at certain times in the stock reminders app.

Thanks Tyler

Hi Tyler, just looked for that app in app store and not managed to find it?

But that's it, to summarise a very tired just finished work lady, a timed reminder is that I'm after, that can vibrate & make a sound with a little notification that alerts me even if my phone is locked and on a desk somewhere not in my hand. Sorry to overcomplicate....does ical already do this? I know you can set events n stuff but i dont think it can do that. & it doesnt pop up, make a sound, or have snooze function. I'm jus gonna push on...it MUST exist somewhere? something so simple...

Result! ( I Hope)

Trying out a couple of different apps ive found one, one called alarmed, looks like it will do the trick but to this very minute it has not set off an alarm like it says it should. then i will try snoozed..

The 'Reminders' app that comes pre-installed on the phone is what I'm talking about. With that one, you can set a reminder and have it give you a visual and audible notification at a time of your choosing.

No problem! It's tricky to find apps which do all of what you want, always find they do some but not all then the second app you find does what the first doesn't etc etc !

Alarmed hasn't been updated in like 1 year and 5 months or something! Could be bugs in the app with later iOS!

thanks for help..

OK thanks for all advice, after somewhat over-complicating what already seems to be quite a mission, I 've now discovered Siri's capabilities & giving her reminder system a go. Its still not quite what im after as in doesnt do verbal/sound alerts and only reminds me when I look at the phone but its easy to add & see what I have coming up. None of my reminders are massively urgent so Ill bear this in mind and at least know whats going on any particular day. If anyone hears of anything I mentioned above please let me know, Im still baffled that it doesnt seem to exist, but as you said yes it is diffuclt to find an app that does exactly what you want. I guess the only other option is to develop my own (highly unlikely, due to lack of knowledge mainly)

I will keep this updated anyway for anyone else with a similar dilemma!

Say, "remind me to get milk at 5pm tonight." You'll be reminded at 5pm to get milk with the visual and an audible alarm. You can change the sound for individual reminders in the reminders app.

Hi again..

Hi! That is exactly what I'm looking for......I set reminders by asking Siri exactly that and have had 2 'past due's already but it's never an audible reminder! Am I doing something wrong? I'm sure i've been through all my settings and have even chosen specific sounds for reminders/push notifications but somethings obviously not working....if I can crack that'd be pretty much perfect :) :)

That's amazing thanku I did indeed have DNd on, the slide up function just below the home button is very useful but still getting used to it, obviously still got a lot to learn about this phone! Thanks so much :)
