I am new to all things Mac and have an issue I am hoping someone in the Mac world can help me with.

I want to view pages and text editor simultaneously, but every time I open one the other one closes (verses minimizes). I assume it is a setting issue. Any ideas?

Thank you!

I'm confused are you using iLife or just Preview and TextEdit? It sounds like something to do with iLife since Preview and TextEdit coexist in multiple instances on the screen at a time.

Pages and TextEdit

I am using Pages to create a new document and TextEdit to view an existing document to help aid me in the creation of the new document. Again, I am new to Mac, but believe Pages is part of iWorks.

My co-worker is able to view both at the same time. He believes I am viewing in two different virtual desktops, but I am not sure

Hope that helps

Are you opening the same document with both programs ?

I just opened Pages with one of the templates and then opened text edit and I have no problem with either one.

Also check to see what the default program is for the type of document it is you're working with. Do you have pages set as the default for .doc and text edit set as the default for .doc ?
