This is probably going to sound lame but I am wanting use the F9-F12 keys with FCP and I realize I do not know how to set them. I have them set with all - marks but the key commands are not working. I must be retarded, so can anyone offer any solutions? I honestly cannot figure this out.

If you want to use the F key shortcuts in FCP, then you have to turn the expose shortcuts off.

You actually don't have to turn Expose keys off to use the Fx keys in FCP. Go into System Preferences and click the Keyboard pane. Under the "Keyboard" tab, check the box "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" and then click OK.

With this setting, you can still use the Expose and other shortcut functions on the Fx keys by holding down the Fn key first. Without the Fn key held down, they function as normal in FCP (as well as any other application that might use them).
