Newbie starting with pics software

Hello everyone,

I mainly bought my Macbook Air for writing needs (I am constantly moving around the world, so, yes, it was the obvious choice),

but I also want to learn some advanced picture-related software, as an hobby.

Being totally new to this world, I would like to learn how to properly modify pictures, create logos, stuff like that.

Is photoshop the best option available? Which one ? Creative Cloud? If I wanted to go on from that, what would you add to my software list?

iPhoto would let you organize and do some editing to photos.

And as for photo editing you could try Pixelmator.
