Hi all,
Just to say hello and hoping I can pick your collective experienced brains with some really silly start up questions !
Finally took the plunge after 4 pc's bit the dust in 12 years of small business use and bought an imac. I am currently just 'playing' to learn the ins and out of the beast.
Silly question 1. With the help of the guys in the shop I successfully accessed my gmail account and am able to send and receive emails. So far so good. What I can't seem to do is 'share' a photo from the photo booth to just see how it all works. When I go to send it asks for a password for that email address. Despite entering the correct password it just keeps telling me the combination is incorrect yet I know it's correct. When I select continue again there are then various choices, 'imap', 'pop' etc ! I seem to remember 'pop' might have something to do with it but still can't seem to get anywhere. Any 'not to technica'l thoughts - please ?

Watch this space for more silly questions !

for your apple mail app, Add your gmail acct by setting up the incoming mail with imap, so it'll be imap.gmail.com. Fill in your user name and password. Your outgoing mail server should be smtp.gmail.com, ending up as smtp.gmail.com: (xxx)@gmail.com for your out going server.

you can find all of this stuff by just googling, fyi

Thanks GyroFX - sorted !! Most of the time I have very little confidence in 'fiddling' with computers. To me they are just a necessary evil that I need to do my job. I was amused by your comment re. design. I have a number of 'Designers' as clients. I'll remember your thoughts !
As for dragging the photo Miles. I didn't know that trick either - thanks
I seem to be having trouble with this 'intuitive' appeal of the mac !!

I am waiting to buy the iMac 2012. I use gmail, hotmail, yahoo by opening each in my chrome browser. In windows (XP in my case), each email provider allows attaching an image, say, from where they are stored on the computer. Will this approach work or must I use the mail app? Thanks.
