I know the specs were not updated much at all on the latest refresh, so is it worth it getting the last gen Air MD711LL/A? I can get the 11" for $799 (no tax and free ship) vs $900 with tax from the Apple store. Any opinions?

If you can find a .edu email address, you can get the 2013 11" for 650$. The 100$ extra for the 0.1GHz CPU boost is in no way worth it.

Yeah, they are out of stock right now it seems, but hopefully they will be getting more soon. Maybe look into getting the 256GB version for 850$.

I was unaware of the educational discounts. On a lark I went to Apple's website and discovered they do something very similar. Up to $200 off on a new Mac! Again, you need a valid .edu email address, but that's a nice discount!

I don't know if they still do it, but they used to give discounts even for highschool students. The 200$ is only on their 2000$+ machines though. MBA's only get 50$ off from Apple.
