News language randomly changed to French

I have an Apple Watch Series 2 and sometime last week the news stories on my watch all switched from English to French. I am located in Canada, but my iPhone 8's language is set to "English (US)" and my Region is Canada. The News app on my phone is all in English. I've restarted the watch, updated to 5.3.1 two days ago, and I've restarted my phone. I also do not subscribe to any French publications or sites. Has anyone else ever experienced this or know how to resolve it? Thanks.
 
Upon further investigation, I can't prove that the language has necessarily been switched to French, but the News app on the Apple Watch is showing French Canadian publications (which are obviously written in French). I have verified in the News app on my phone that I am not subscribed to any French publications. Additionally, when my iPhone pops up a notification about news updates, that notification is in english on my Apple Watch. It is only the Siri face on the watch that shows me 5 news stories that are all French publications.

Same issue as well, except my News stories on my iPhone widgets are also now in French. Hopefully it’s just a glitch that gets fixed.

Good observation. I didn't have the News widget on my lock screen but just added it and it also is in French. So I guess the problem isn't the Watch but the iPhone (since the Watch mirrors the iPhone).

Fortunately or unfortunately, it has resolved itself but I don't know why. A few days after my original post I noticed that my watch seemed to lose everyone in its contacts such that I never saw names when people called/texted, just their numbers. I tried resyncing data through the app on my iPhone a few times and that wasn't working but after trying that for a few days it resynced contact info and a day or two after that the news reverted to english. Go figure...
