This article at NewsFactor was the last straw for me. I have gotten so sick of posting with many others on their talk-back about how unresearched and incorrect their articles about Apple are and I have written to the editor.

Whether it will do anything or not, I don't know but you will understand where I am coming from if you read the article.

I don't think they have ever heard of creditable journalism.

Now I'm new to the mac world...in what ways is the article incorrect?
Without taking a look at the article again; firstly I would just like to note that it is supposed to be an iCal article but is just a pay out on .Mac; secondly, "to get full use of the software (you) will have to pay $100 a year" which they based on the idea that to publish your calander on the web you need .Mac which is completely not true... Apple does not force you to publish to their server but if you do not publish there how can the calander be expected to run as a web page... Apple's homepage works because of the power of the WebObjects servers running behind it and the presaved templates they have created; thirdly, this article was published after the date of extension of the half price sign up deal but still showed the old date; forthly, it indirectly suggesed that anyone before a set date could get the half price sign up; fifthly, they have a go at iPhoto because of the same HomePage problem I discussed above; sixthly, they say that Backup is useless without a .Mac membership which is a rediculous comment because Backup is one of the bits of software you get for subscribing to .Mac; seventhly, the MacOS is flawed because you can only use the connect to iDisk feature if you have a .Mac account and apart from the flaws in that statement itself, how could you log into your own iDisk if you have not got an iDisk??? ; and lastly, they say things like "if Apple is looking for reason behind the lack of enthusiasm for .Mac..." followed by "the rate of .Mac sign ups has exceeded projections.

Go figure!!!

You should have seen some of the other stuff they have come out with, though... this article is quite tame.
