About the videos being fake....i dunno man. You would have to be pretty good to fake something like that.

you ain't the only one to have seen a few videos in your time. trust me and virtually everyone else here the videos were composites. that doesn't mean the idea isn't genuine but the spymac connection doesn't help your case.

My response to the iWalk thing

Back in warly January I posted a response to TheRegister and AtAT about their comments about the iWalk "hoax". I never heard back from either one of them, but since it's been a big issue here I'll throw in my two cents.

This is what I wrote...

1) The "device" shown in the pages of SpyMac appears to be larger than the iPod. The iPod is supposed to be about the size of a deck of cards. Since I've not seen an iPod in person, perhaps it is the size of those big playing cards that magicians use. :)

2) The exterior of the 'iWalk" looks like the white plastics of an iBook and not the chrome of the iPod.

3) I do video compositing work and I know that such images and video could be doctored, but I feel that the work involved to make the images look as good as they did would require much more time than most normal people would be willing to spend. There are a lot of reflections of the surrounding enviroment of the iWalk that could be composited, but are very hard to make look convincing.

4) The displays shown on the LCD display show a pretty well thought out interface; beyond what I would expect in an average hoax.

5) I have some issues with the movies of the displays. The look pasted on at times and shift or jitter. Based on my assumption that it is real, I point to the codec that compressed the movies. Perhaps an MPEG codec was used and caused the kind of temporal jitter you sometimes see in DVD movies. Since I didn't save the movies, I cannot check what codec was used.

In my opinion, if this is a hoax, somebody spent a lot of time, perhaps up to 6 months to make it look this good. Why so long? Well, I would hope that the people doing it would have real jobs. :)

:End of my letter:

The reason for the iPod coments were because of some assertions that somebody just doctered images of an iPod. I believe it's possible to make a hoax on the scale of the iWalk thing, it's just a lot of work, and I wouldn't be willing to waste my own time doing it.

Perhaps this is why Apple bought Nothing Real... to make sure the tools to make great iWalk like hoaxes never, ever happen again! :)

this message is to all of the cry babies that are tired of hearing about the iwalk-- if you don't like it then don't respond to it-- there seems to be plenty of us out there that want to discuss the possibilities that they will make such a device. a year ago, I would not have given a rat's you know what -- ( a year ago I was trapped using my pc) now, I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted in terms of what I can and cannot do on a computer while enjoying myself completely every day. "when" not "if" apple releases this device ( i say device because i believe that whatever it is will be something much better than a pda ever was or ever will be) it will be completely revolutionary!!
btw-- this is a rumor site-- that's what we do-- talk about rumors or even start them is my understanding-- if you want to state you opinion about how there is no way apple will make a pda then fine-- but quit telling everyone else they are full of ****
everyone else -- keep the dream alive is what i say
:D
