Yes to adding Qi charging capability to Siri Remote.

No to adding Qi charger to Apple TV hardware. Keep Apple TV hardware cost as low as possible. I can always buy an inexpensive charger.

I rarely see anyone that doesn't have their AppleTV tucked away. Plus its going to be HDMI length from the TV at best so if you used it for your phone, well it would be across the room (vs a wireless charger on the end table next to you). Although charging the remote would be nice, if only the battery didn't last for months.

Maybe just a Qi Siri Remote Case is in order. then people who dont 'need' it won't pay for it. and keep the prices down.

Dumb idea... why would I park my phone across the room to charge? Doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Wow, must be glued to it? Anyway, it's more an idea for the remote. THAT has to have a cable plugged in some place flopping around. Just being able to drop on top of the ATV is as useful as any other Qi charger. The phone or other devices is a bonus.

But yes for those of you who MUST have your phone in your hands at all times, even while charging, it's a dumb idea.

I think the majority of people have their aTV inside a cabinet, under the TV, or (like myself) mounted on the back of the TV.
All of these would make placing the phone or remote on the charger difficult.
I'd have to use tape, since my aTV is vertical.

I have a power strip with USB and a lightening cable on the back of my couch already. Handy if the phone gets low, but also really easy to top up the remote. I don't even have to move
My guess is more and more people have a "couch charger" just sitting there empty most of the time, and within arms reach from where they use the remote.

Having it all the way across the room is rather inconvenient when it rings, or when a text alert sounds... SMH

And, yeah, it would be MUCH more convenient for one to keep the ATV remote all the way across the room when watching ATV... SMH even more.

so you’re watching tv 24/7? I’m saying having a nice clean, drop the remote on top of the atv when charging, is far more elegant then wire hanging over my sofa. Obviously you don’t charge it while using it! Good grief.

Also if for some reason my phone was low on charge during daylight operational hours, which almost never happens, i use my home pod to text. Again this is exceedingly rare. Innovation does not always mean it makes sense for everyone.

So, go for it. Raise the capital, do the design, get it manufactured and see how many you can sell. I'm just saying that it's not practical for my situation. My TV lives in a media cabinet across the room from where I sit to watch TV.

An apple TV remote with Qi charging could be nice, but I wouldn't put the charger in the Apple TV itself for the reasons already mentioned.

But if you had a QI charger on your coffee table/end table being able to use it for your phone or Apple TV remote could be handy.

That said, I'm not sure the Qi charging coils would fit in the AppleTV remote. It would probably be another non-standard wireless charger like the Apple Watch.
