I'm expecting to sit back with some buttery popcorn and read all the ridiculous threads about damaged MBAs fresh out of the box. Only to see a magnified pic of a microscopic scratch and the OP asking everyones advise if he should return it.

It's gonna be entertaining. MTV should do a reality show around it.

Of course, other threads will be fun too.

Screen too bright at it's darkest setting
Screen too dark at it's brightest setting
Intel IGP sucks

ETC ETC.

You forgot to mention one area of the screen slightly more yellow than the other.

Yes, and of course, the douchebags that will return a perfectly fine MBA until they get a Samsung SSD with Samsung LCD.

Longer battery life and HD FaceTime camera. As well as 8GB Ram upgrade option and 4GB standard for all models.

64GB should replaced by the 128GB, and 128GB to 256 :)

I thought the 2011 models had HD camera ?

Ahh, but then we get to buy the perfectly good refurbished air at a discount right away, no waiting. I love it.

ivy bridge
128gb/4gb standard on the 11" (with 8gb option)
128gb/8gb standard on the 13" (don't think they'll offer a 16gb option, but if they do, I'd like one)

Expect, or want?

I expect marginal upgrades. I want a non-glossy display with better color and brightness. :)

Let's hear it for non-glossy display!

I agree with therealseebs (above), the only feature over and above what's currently available--well, maybe better battery life--I'm waiting for is a NON-GLOSSY display. That's a given for anybody who's into photography and subtle imagery. Once you've experienced a NGD, you won't settle for less, in my humble opinion.

I expect them to bump up the processor (and GPU by extension) while swapping the USB2 port for USB3.

I'd love to see a substantial increase battery life - especially on the 11inch. Also wouldn't a retina Macbook Air just be totally awesome?

Adam

I expect an evolutionary progress: 10% CPU bump (IB vs SB), 20% more battery life (because of IB), 25% more GPU power (HD4000 vs HD3000), etc.

Unless they introduce Retina (which I don't think MBA needs), I don't see this upgrade as revolutionary.

I want:
  • LTE option
  • Higher WH battery
  • Reduced bezel / larger screen for 11"
  • All edges tapered, like the 1st gen MBA
  • Emphasis on cool and quiet operation

Larger screen for the 11.6" model? Really? that would make it lIke 12" or something like that.
Aside from that I think that they should give it better battery life and a liquid metal casing. Higher ram and storage would be great upgrades too!

How very cynical... And true. Thanks for that. :)

The MBA already has a non-glossy display.

Bumping the memory on them should be trivial... 4gb or 8gb now costs about as much as 2gb did when the 2010s came out in 2gb min spec.

Tech wise it is a no brainer - instead of soldering in a few smaller capacity chips they just solder in bigger ones at the same cost....

MacBook Airs come with glossy screens, and while they are a decent resolution they are not very good quality.

I expect to see the next gen chips, including better onboard graphics. Hopefully a bigger SSD, and an 8GB memory option too.

*shrug* That sounds boring tbh
