Will be interesting to see if mini LED as mixed rumours to this year vs next year for mini LED.

Apples screens are already so good that the next major improvement will need to be something like mini LED

I suspect it will be new design this year, mini LED next year
I would love it if they brought back matte screen options, personally.

i still use usb-a, but that doesn't mean we all should be getting built in usb-a ports.
Your response doesn't really deserve a sensible answer, but I have a keyboard and a spare 30 seconds.

Start using USB-C, that meets your requirement to connect peripheral devices.

Removing SD and replacing it with nothing doesn't meet my potential requirement to upgrade the initial storage. Which was necessary when I maxed out the largest storage size available when I purchased my 2014 MBP.

If this is true, looks like some nice updates. I like the Touch Bar, but I understand why so many don’t. I def would like to see some additional ports - not that I don’t LOVE carrying dongles.
The donglegate its being one of the dumbest move in tech, its OK to jump ahead removing floppy or CD, as they were dying, but USB-A, SD card and HDMI are so spread, I mean SOOOOOO spread and so useful and cheap that is a nosense trying to kill them so many years in advance, is just crazy nuts.

Once they are on the market, and I'm going to go for the 16" or whatever, I will be that Mac freak who never ever used a Touch Bar, "jumping" from MacBook Pro 15" Retina mid 2012 to the MacBook Pro 16" mid 2021...
I'm with you. My top of the range late 2013 will be getting an upgrade thats for sure. It still works beautifully well but I dropped it this winter and cracked the screen. I'm struggling to find a new screen that isn't $800 so I'll retire it to the garage :)

(Don't forget we missed the clappy crap keyboard too ;). )

in order to “start using usb-c” i would need to use an adapter. just like how you do using an SD via USB-C.

same thing.

i maxed out my storage and added an external drive that gave me 18tb. don’t know why you need an SD card to add more storage.

the replacement is 2 extra thunderbolt ports that allow for daisy chaining of devices, freeing up ports and sort directly connected to your laptop.

you’re not giving a good “sensible” argument here.

I hope they don't price me out like the MAC PROS!!!!!!!! SMDH I hope it is starting at $2700 then I can add some options and be around $4000 after applecare and a external drive ! FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Hopefully more memory, more ports, and zero Touch Bar.

Add back Magsafe and the glowing Apple? Pure magic.

But I like the touch bar better than the inflexible FN keys :(. I understand the need for memory card ports, but not the hdmi port since I already bought few usb-c/hdmi cables, wouldn’t that be a move backwards?

“Inflexible fn keys.”

lol

The one job - the only job - of keys is to be where your fingers expect them to be, so you don’t have to go hunting for them.

That’s a job the touchbar fails spectacularly

I had my batteries replaced twice and now it's saying they want to be replaced as well. And once the screen. and my keyboard, which was the best ever, indeed we missed the crappy keyboards as well lol

I really hope they don't do white bezels. That would be a deal breaker.
White bezels wouldn't make sense on the Macbook line unless they completely redesigned the Macbook to follow the design language of the new iMac, which is not happening. It would need a white keyboard and a colorful aluminum frame, which would be cool honestly, but maybe for the Macbook Air and keep the Pro black

And no doubt when the $2,499 price is announced he will say “twenty four ninety nine” as if it were a mere $25. For all their inclusiveness shtick you have to be pretty well off to buy into the system.
What more do you want, for them to give away stuff for free?

20% lager battery for the 14’’? Count me in.

How this will fare with 8 high peromace cores, more GPU cores compared to the current 13’’ I don’t know - but it sure looks epic on paper. Can’t wait.

So...do put my current MBP on craigslist now? or am I jumping the gun? 😁 Very excited to learn about these and hope this rumor is true.
I suspect there will still be a solid market for the Intel 16” MacBook Pros since they have an Intel processor. At least that’s what I’m hoping as I would like to sell mine as well and get the Mx variant model. I have barely even used mine and it’s a killer spec’d machine with 32GB of memory, 8GB graphics and 1TB SSD. That should hopefully get me at least $3,000!

I'm in the exact place as you. My last computer was a fully-loaded mid-2012 15-inch Retina Macbook Pro and my next with be a (hopefully) fully-loaded 16-inch Macbook Pro.
That's pretty surprising really, to get over 9 years out of a computer. It still runs great too, but it's showing its age by not being able to upgrade the OS anymore, lack of Thunderbolt 3, inability to sidecar my iPad, etc.

You forgot to add the caveat that it is the ARM version of Windows that you are running through Parallels and not the regular x86_64 version that normal people and anyone else who wants to run Windows uses.

In addition, the ARM-based version of Windows can't run 64-bit versions of apps. You can only run 32-bit versions or ARM-based versions of apps, of which there are only quite a few.

So yeah, by running Windows on an M1 Mac, you aren't going to be as productive as some of the most popular apps aren't supported.

As I wrote in my comment above, I did NOT forget to mention that it's an ARM version of Windows. See above.
