Apple TV with Siri ?
If it also allowed consumers to ditch their cable or satellite set-top boxes, they'd sell them in the hundreds of millions.
I moved from the US to Austria, though I often take trips back to the US. I've gotten in the habit of buying electronics in the States since it's so much cheaper, but I'm not so sure of this with the aTV. If I got one in the States, would work ok in Austria with downloading movies and whatnot from iTunes? I assume so, since I still use iTunes for getting my songs. Of course, not so good of a deal with Netflix still not working in Europe.
If Apple were to release a piece of hardware that allowed it replace the pile of remote controls I've got in my living room - they'd sell it by the millions. If it also allowed consumers to ditch their cable or satellite set-top boxes, they'd sell them in the hundreds of millions.
The moment it does 1080, I buy. Just throw an A5 in there and do it already!
Wouldn't you need something like a Nintendo WII remote, or a touchscreen TV?

Existing solutions come close, usually IR dongles or pucks, but they somehow lack the elegance and intuitive ease of use we expect from an Apple product.
I hope that in some top-secret Apple lab somewhere, they are putting the finishing touches on such a product.
I want Apple to bring true a la carte programming to consumers...how great would it be to turn that 50$ cable bill into a leaner version of preferred shows.
For instance, I'd pay 3.99 per month for AMC Streaming, 10.99 Showtime, 2.99 Nickelodeon, 1.99 CNN...etc. And major networks could be free (Fox, CBS, NBC). They could still keep commercials (since I'm not paying the premium of show rentals), but could do them in a very user savvy way (akin to web advertising).
I could have a 20.00 per month bill for only the channels that my family watches. The networks would make more money as well (I doubt folks like AMC get 10% of my monthly bill sent to them from the service providers). Lastly, Apple could easily integrate a purchase/rent option into the service ("I see you watched Mad Men Season 5 last week on AMC, would you like to rent previous seasons on iTunes?")
My kids learned how to use it. Unfortunately, my wife hates it because she can't figure out the tech. She still can't figure out how to walk up to the tv and punch the button on the hdmi switch to change the input...
the appleTV needs apps and 1080P
Kinda weird how the Apple TV software and iTunes are still beta with no updates since Aug 31st.
just saying'
So what happens when I want to AirPlay my iPhone 4s 1080p video on my AppleTV? Downgraded or doesn't work at all?
