Hopefully there is more to this event than just a capacity bump to last year's models....
If nothing else, it proves that they don't have to take the store(s) down to change prices or content.Apple briefly slashed prices on its existing iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod classic models earlier today before the online store was taken down.
I don't even think there was a redesign. There was a slim classic and a fat classic. Keep the slim, shove a new Hard Drive in it and presto!
What about 32gb iPod nano. I thought that was going to be a given. They have been upping the nano since they came out! No hope for 64gb nano. Next year?
You couldn't even listen to that many song without the battery dying. I really do not see a point for such a large HD.
Plus, do you know how much time it would require to listen to that many songs? The price for a 360 would be ridiculous.
yeah the 80 was slimmer than the 160 but those were flat platic looking and the 120 was more of a rounded edge metal case.
80 and 160 cases were like this

120 is like this

*Can see a lot of people getting disappointed today*
FWIW, I know two people who rip all their CDs to Apple Lossless format. In that case, 120/160 GB isn't really that large and the Classic becomes the manditory iPod of choice. You couldn't even listen to that many song without the battery dying. I really do not see a point for such a large HD.

Ha, just this second posted this. 160 GB classic is great news.

Way to think right smack dab in the center of the inside of the box. I'm so sick of hearing people say this same thing over and over. "you could never listen to that many songs".
LISTEN TO ME RIGHT NOW. It's not about listening to EVERY song at once, it's about listening to ANY song at once! I have my entire music collection on my ipod 40GB, I can choose any song from my collection ANY time I want. I can shuffle through my collection whenever I feel like it. I hear songs I forgot about that I wouldn't even think of "syncing". It's the main reason i still have a 5 year old ipod instead of a touch. I'm hoping that changes today (or at least soon).
I was semi-hoping for a bump too, but really, the nano isn't the product of choice for audiophiles and people with large libraries. That and Apple wants to force you to the next model up where there's more profit. It's all about the money. Maybe a 32 GB nano next year.
That is actually pretty easy, if you know how Apple works – they need to forward everything to servers all around the globe, and that's where I step in to get software from (sometimes up to a day ahead of the official release). How did you find that image?
There's a new 64GB Touch at your localI have my entire music collection on my ipod 40GB, I can choose any song from my collection ANY time I want. There is no mention of the iPod touch in the alleged list of updated models, an omission that may be related to last-minute production problems with camera modules.
would still like to see a 128gb ssd classic though
