5G (UC - TMobile) has been amazing in the DFW ( TX ) area!!

Ranges between 600-800+ DL and ~ 125 UL

Inside we need wifi to even make calls.

I don't know anything about India. Why do you need wifi to make calls inside? Is the service that bad that audio quality sucks indoors? Is there VoLTE/HD voice support?

Well, it’s GOT to be better than 5G in the US. 5G in the US has really been an absolute joke of a service on par in the pantheon of vapor wear with Air Power and a IIGS that runs Mac OS classic in 1988.
Maybe you’re just on a **** carrier in the boonies.

There is VoLTE and there is VoWifi as well. 4G is patchy indoors for a lot of people even in big cities. Maybe the cell towers are not close enough as they should be so we get one bar inside and 3 bars outside. Even outside max we get is around 10mbps. So I think they kind nerfed the connectivity to keep data costs so dirt cheap.

Most of the houses in India are concrete buildings with thick walls. So, reception of mobile network is weak inside houses which are not close to a tower. In cities where it's like a concrete jungle, reception can be a big problem.

Not used it in the US so cannot say for sure but using mmWave in places sure did set the carriers up for a hard task. Yes it’s fast but line of sight and short range. You can see why other countries didn’t bother with it because frankly mid-band 5G is still faster than anyone really needs on a phone. Hell 4G was fine in my book and already fast enough.
Personally for me, I don't think I've ever seen mm-Wave 5G. But on T-Mobile, at least, the mid-band and C-band spectrum has given me good 5G service on my 12 Pro. I've at least had very good service now in areas where the LTE was rather poor. It hasn't been blazing speeds (other than a few times), but when YouTube videos load immediately and never have to buffer the entire 10-20 minute video when watching in 4K, it rocks.

Some 5G bands are missing in iPhone 12 vs later iPhones, so will iPhone 12 5G work in India ?

iPhone 12 5G Bands -
5G NR (Bands n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n25, n28, n38, n40, n41, n66, n71, n77, n78, n79)
5G NR mmWave (Bands n260, n261)

iPhone 13/14 5G Bands -
5G NR (Bands n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n25, n28, n29, n30, n38, n40, n41, n48, n66, n71, n77, n78, n79)
5G NR mmWave (Bands n258, n260, n261)
Depends. I think it'll work, except for mm-Wave, which is a US carrier only thing for the most part. It's flaky even when you have perfect line of sight to a tower. Even putting your hand between your phone and the tower will cut speeds in half, from what I've seen.

To be honest in the areas I’ve been that have 5G enabled here in the UK aren’t all that impressive either.

The upcoming developer and public beta of iOS 16.2 will officially enable 5G for iPhone in India on select carriers, Apple has told Indian Express.

iOS-16.2-Feature.jpg

Apple had previously confirmed it was working with carriers in India, including Airtel and Jio, to bring 5G support to iPhone users in the country. Apple said it would begin its 5G rollout in the country in December. Now, the company says starting with the upcoming iOS 16.2 beta, users on Airtel and Jio networks will gain access to faster 5G connectivity.

Apple released the first beta of iOS 16.2 to developers and public beta testers last week, and the software is expected to launch in mid-December, coinciding with Apple's promise of a December rollout of 5G in India. iOS 16.2 includes several new features and refinements, including the new Freeform app and an updated architecture in the Home app.

14 Pro here, can confirm beta 2 does not enable 5G for supported carriers in regions with solid 5G coverage.

EDIT: Confused public beta with beta 2
