I have the 3g

I could get the new iphone this summer with a new contract or get the ipad and stick with the 3g and go month to month.

which would you choose?

Sell your 3G, save your money and buy both iPad and iPhone HD, that's what I'm doing.

Both serve relatively different purposes. I really think it depends on what you need. If you are happy with the 3G and are looking for a good go between from your phone and your main computer, get the iPad. If, on the other hand, you are not content with the 3G, skip the iPad and upgrade. I would wait to see what the new iPhone has to offer before you make your decision.
