Nobody knows when the Macbook update will be. However I feel it could be WWDC in June but dont anticipate a major update, perhaps just a cpu bump and HDD.

I dont think it will have a backlit keyboard. This is a feature that distinguishes the macbook from the 'Pro' range.

    Disappointed

I am completely disappointed about the MBP 13" Update. Why is their no i5 upgrade possible? THe MB-update will be crappy either. Damn.

The white Macbook might get upgraded to Core iX while the 13" MBP stays at Core 2 Duo because of the whole Intel vs NVidia graphics situation. The refreshed Macbook will probably just use the integrated Intel graphics that are packaged with the newer processors. An upgraded 13" MBP would have to have both Intel's packaged graphics and a discrete GPU.

Why are you disappointed? It's not like the i5 is so much faster than a core 2 duo. Intel graphics suck compared to nvidia graphics, even integrated. You'd be better off with the nvidia 9400 than anything intel offers.

The Magic 8-ball says the next MacBook update will be in May.
No chance it will have a backlit keyboard.
