What does your daughter study that a G3 700 wouldn't do the trick?
Good point, in that even if they are announced on the 14th they probably own't be available until Halloween. So its not just waiting a month, its more like a month & a half.
Well, she's a Junior now and 2 years ago when I replaced her G3 700 with the MPRO think of it as a highschool graduation present. Plus the MPRO will last her at least through her 4 years.
I use the G3 700 now and it still works great. However it is slow on graphic applications (youtube is a little slow). The G3 is fine for most internet, email, term paper writing... but she is a Chem Major and some of the math programs she runs only come in Windows. So she has bootcamp and xp installed and can use xp to run those windows programs.
The G3 700 is now 6 years old. It wasn't a power laptop when it was new. Gets by on 384k of memory. With a 30gig disk that would have filled up long ago if she was still using that at school.
