Why would they use an expensive proprietary port that has no other use on the machine?? It makes sense on the phone to use one port for everything especially if they are considering a better water resistant rating but there is no monetary or functional reason for them to do the same thing on a laptop. In my opinion there is no chance of this happening for those reasons.

That and 3.5 is still alive and well in many areas a MBP touches. Video and audio work. Audio covered a bit but 3.5 still alive here.

Video though is very much alive. Especially in DSLR realms. vDSLR took off pretty strong. Until Big name studio comes down and says shoot my movie and turns over 100's of thousands in gear for use....people have to learn somewhere.

vDSLR is that area. Or mirrorless, will give them mention. Even teaches manual focus mastery through lots of experience (movie gear doesn't autofocus, have to learn it at some point) as its the best way to do it (autofocus hunt or AF motor noise crapping up the audio are 2 problems this avoids).

Number of devices focused on 3.5 is many in this realm. Mic's, preamps, external recorders/monitors, the camera bodies themselves love the 3.5. Gear I looked at has no BT audio out option that I saw. Its not because its cheap. I wish that was the case tbh lol. I owe my CFO (aka the wife) some high quality video product this year, as it was the reason given for many purchases as I expanded my interest here lol.

Just don't see apple saying with a straight face yeah we killed 3.5 on the MBP since its old and basically dead. Body of evidence too strong in the video realm to make this a serious comment.

And MBP's are liked in this realm still. With FCP installed or another competitor's product and we want apple products, don't what/can't afford the MP...its not like we have many choices. Well we do have options, under the other vendor section (no FCP ofc) lol.

I just could not take apple seriously anymore if they said the same 3.5 headphones/studio monitors used on high end and well respected video gear is too old and useless for use on their laptop.

Dongle/adapter brought up. Why go to this when there is no need to really. Heard bulky...wondering how. Its neither the widest nor the tallest input on the body. its internals are not massive either. Google juicedlink for what a "bulky" 3.5 preamp setup looks like. Or find other vendors if desired.

Keen eyes may notice some use the same mounting and take up almost the same space as some battery grips. This for those out there who need a reality check...this the frame of reference they need. Apple is not putting this in their design. If removed...the MBP is not getting smaller, lighter or skinnier.

I am glad BT users found their thing. Now go let us 3.5 users enjoy our stuff in peace really.
