There's been multiple ios updates since ios 8.2
The latest one available is ios 9.2

He almost certainly means 9.2 given that the 6s shipped with 9.0.

To answer the question, updates come out when they're ready. There's already a beta version of 9.3, it it will get a full release... Sometime in the near future.

9.2.1 should be coming soon, and 9.3 is likely not too far away after that, as both are in beta stages now. As for the next major version of iOS, that will likely be coming in the fall, as usual.

iOS 9.3 is currently in beta/public beta while 9.2.1 may release some point in Feb or just strait to 9.3
