"Arcade exist because people are having "freemium fatigue" if that makes sense. A library of "good enough" games for 4.99$ a month is nothing when you have kids."
So much truth here - Parent

I disagree. I have kids and I tried for months to make them use arcade. They just hate it. The only good that came for me is that they having arcade they are not allowed to ask for in app purchases of games. But they stick to freemium. I canceled arcade and they did not even notice

Seriously, I don't get those who defend apple on their stance. I am fully in the apple ecosystem since twenty+ years. I have an iMac, an iPad pro, an iPhone pro and I am definitively not the typical apple hater. But what apple is doing here is damaging all apple users, nobody should be ok with their strategy. I love playing games on xCloud, stadia and geforce now and I want to play them on my iPad, on which they would look fantastic. The only reason we can't is because Apple needs to protect their childish and abysmal arcade service. Do they really think we will subscribe in desperation? They should change their policies, it would be an advantage for all their users

It's called Apple Arcade. They without a doubt are influencing the process. When has Apple ever told people just do whatever they want?
It’s also Apple’s App Store and there’s no shortage of games that look like these. Guess that’s primarily because Apple’s influencing all developers in general to do the same?

Is this similar to Disneys effort to make their most of their video content PG-13 on Disney + acceptable for family entertainment ?

I wondered about Apple Arcade as being more juvenile focused than adult games which reflect more violence or profanity, compared to older games you found years ago available from the Mac App Store. Everyone remembers Duke Nukem, but its gone.

Both my kids are under 10 and have been loving all the options available to them. We will not allow freemium as it had been a nonstop line of request for in app purchases and age inappropriate ads in some instances.
