I'd say never, I'm of the mind that Apple will quietly shelve the whole touchbar component, it never lived up to the hype, developers have for the most part only given it passing attention. Its a solution in search of a problem.
I agree with this. But I wonder, in doing so, will they finally come out with a Mac with a touchscreen to keep with the spirit of the Touch Bar and all the folks who have spent their hard-earned money on it. I think if they completely dump it, it's going to rattle a lot of people who spent the extra coin to a MBP w/Touch Bar.

Agree... I also have found myself liking the touch-bar... never even considered it as a positive or negative when buying... just didn't pay any attention to it until I started using it.

I'd love it to be a little bigger and more customizable.

When I'm just on a blank desktop... I think it would be cool to 'hide' my dock on the screen and just have all the icons on the touch-bar instead..... sort of like my own customizable hotkeys.

Or when browsing Chrome, have all my book mark icons there instead of just the search URL bar.

Otherwise, I'd agree the older keyboards were better that had more of a definitive 'click' to each strike.
If I recall correctly, you can do that with the Better Touch Tool app. You can assign apps to open on the touchbar.

I don't think they will completely dump it, but if they were to, I really don't think there would be many upset about it. Sure, some of us may have gotten used to it and maybe it even helped for some people, but the main reason a lot of us got a MBP w/Touch Bar was more because of the specs than the fact it had the Touch Bar. I bought my 2017 MBP w/TouchBar because it had a faster processor and two cooling fans versus the one on the non-touchbar version. If they had offered the same specs and cooling fans I likely would've gone with the non-touchbar version personally.

It was an adjustment but I forced myself to use the Touch Bar as much as I could to see if it would grow on me. It took a while but it definitely has, scrubbing through timelines is faster I have more access to function of apps that I normally wouldn't without at least shortcut. I can do a lot of trackpad work as if it was another key on the keyboard.

Change is hard and some people don't adjust to it very well. I totally get it however what helped me was saying "I paid for this I'm going to at least get my money worth". Now I find myself disappointed on my iMac from time to time when I can't quickly do something with without moving my hand over to the mouse.

First world problems.

I always thought the vitriol directed at the TB was a little exaggerated, but after just getting a 2018 15" MacBook Pro this week, I'm having an even harder time understanding it. I love the Touch Bar. So far the main apps I've used it comes in handy. I use it more often than I used the function keys. Switching between Safari tabs is great when I'm writing a paper and have several research articles open. My wife has used the new computer several times, and I had to explain to her what the TB was the first time she used it. She told me yesterday that it's now her favorite thing about the new computer.

I think people would like it more if there hadn't been such an initial stigma about it.

If you routinely use Calendar spanning across years in your workflow like I do, you’re likely to find another great utilization of the tb. I could live w/out the tb but I, too like it and hope it’s natively developed further. It would be nice if there was a sticky thread that pointed out the virtues of the tb. Last time I endeavored to do such a thing..let’s just say it didn’t go well. I don’t, and never will understand the passion of the ‘naysayers’ behind such a thing, wih exception of those who use the f-keys while touch typing, of course..but still, the subject becomes outright childish and peeps want to impose their views upon others while decrying the king which is Apple for imposing their ideas upon others. Ironic..lol.
