2011 they will definitely put Sandybridge CPU into the 13". If they need a dedicated GPU than they will redesign it in a way that it fits this extra GPU.
Sandybridge according to early demos will significantly improve power efficiency and performance over the current Arrendale and I doubt Apple can still stick to the C2D.
There will also never be an improvement on the 320M as this one was still in development and Nvidia had it ready but they officially stopped designing any new chipsets before the release of 320M.

16:9 is indeed a bad choice for small screens but the glass in front of the panel (as HP introduced it before Apple) is also a stupid choice. They will probably go with mainstream and redesign the whole case with 16:9 in mind.
On big screens 16:9 is okay but anything below 17" sucks on 16:9 for portability.

The only question is if they introduce new sizes. If the current 13" ends up becoming a 13,3" it will effectively be as useful as some 16:10 12.1". Thus they might introduce a 14,1" as a real replacement for the 13".

The current "13" is already 13.3", just as the "15" is 15.4"

13.3" 16:9 is what I am talking about.
16:9 usually are said to have 13.3" while the 16:10 usually are 13".
But from testing in store. A 13.whatever in 16:9 seems about as big as a 12.1 in. Lenovo X200 a friend owns. That is imo significantly worse for working on a text document than a 16:10 13.3" the current MBP has.

Not until they have resolution independence to adjust fonts.

+1

Look how many Hi res 15" MBP's are being returned to Apple Stores and sent back to Apple in exchange for the 1440 x 900 screen.... ask about it at your local Apple store ...

I dunno how the new Hi res 15" works long run, but, I have the 1920x1200 17" high res from a couple of years ago and I love it. I'm guessing that older people who are farsighted might have a problem, but, since I'm older and very nearsighted, I can get as close to the screen as I want (~12"). Maybe if you can't focus on the high-res, you might need reading glasses or bifocals.

Give an option for a high-res screen - 1280x800 is laughable.

I would like a higher res screen, but it is definitely not "laughable". HP is putting the same resolution in 14-15" laptops. Sony has 1366x768 which IMO is worse because of the lost vertical resolution.

Though just because competitors suck doesn't mean that apple should too, an upgrade option would be nice.

As for multitasking...I've gotten by using screen corners for spaces and expose on my first gen MacBook. Photo processing is no fun though when looking at a 100% crop of an 18MP image.

Why would they put C2D's in 2010? What would be the point?

i3s have basically no performance advantage over the C2Ds. Secondly, using the i3s limits their GPU options - they'd have to use the Intel IGP. In 2011 we'll have SB chips which will offer definite performance advantages over C2Ds and i3s along with better graphics solutions.

Any chance of i5s next year? Will be heading for college and the 13 inch is a perfect size... But I don't want to be stuck with 4 yr old tech.
