Nexus 7/10 question

Don't get the N7, you'll get choppy, laggy performance. Try the N10 if you want to go Android, maybe it's better.

LOL. I am very much an Apple fan, but I am using the Nexus 7 for web browsing way more than I did with iPad Mini and Regular iPad. Plus the WiFi on the iPads seemed to go in out and, but it is very stable on the Nexus 7. I personally think the Nexus 7 loads pages perfectly and I experience zero lag (I am also VERY picky about "laggy" and "choppy" performances).

I haven't had the Nexus long but the performance seems good. The 2x RAM (compared to the iPad 2 or Mini or iPod 5) is definitely noticeable. Should actually have about 1/3 to over 2x the CPU power available too.

While my iPad 2 connects flawlessly to my friend's wifi, I've noticed my iPod 5 disconnects constantly, but is fine with my Airport Extreme soooo I kind of think maybe some wifi chips are just finicky with some routers :-/

I thought maybe it was my router, but my iPhones 4, 4S, 5, Nexus 7, desktop and laptop ALL have great connections. Both iPad 4's and the iPad mini I had were horrible the way they dropped WiFi. I would get so frustrated with the iPad's dropping connection, I was more and more using the Nexus 7. I have no idea why it was just the iPad's - it was frustrating as I loved their form factor, but the WiFi connection dropping off and on was a deal breaker.

I never had lag in loading websites on my N7, I was talking about touch response. There's an example of the difference in that lockergnome video, they're not on par.

I haven't noticed anything weird yet.

I found out how to kill performance on this nexus 7 though... copy filed to it!

iOS is no speed demon...a 5400rpm hard drive runs circles arouindmoit, but this is crazy slow. despite 4 CPUs the interface must be 10-100 slower when copying files in the background, and I'm seeing just over 2MB/s transfers.

I remember an old arm 11 android device being like that, bit this is weird.

I did however turn on encryption. obnoxiously unlike iOS it isn't on by default, and you have to. have a password set up for it to encrypt. took an hour to encrypt everything. I'm saying thast because I wonder if it's the CPU doing all this, and maybe things would be faster with it turned off. would love to see CPU utilization.


I wonder if iOS has some kind of hardware hardwired for encryption
