I think the 5X is going for the mid-range market. But if that was the case, I don't see why they would go for a Snapdragon 800 series processor. Why not just go for a Snapdragon 600 series processor, which is still somewhat high end?
On a side note, when is the event and how can I watch it (UK)?

The 808 processor is very good, and LG having been using it in the G4 so are familiar with it.

It is also more futureproof, and should - on stock Android - easily last a good couple of years with no problem.

Google usually stream it on YouTube live, think the kick off is at 5pm today! https://www.youtube.com/google

I don't get it, why's everyone having a go at the N5X?

The 2013 Nexus 5 still performs great, two years on, so with better specs why is the Nexus 5X suddenly going to perform horribly?

Yeah. If that camera was better it'd still be a perfect phone.

I could never go back to a tiny little screen like the Nexus 5 or 5X. Past couple of years the sweet spot to me is 5.5" like the OPO or G3 / G4 / 6 Plus. But my Note 5 at 5.7" is made so compact with minimal bezels, I'm really liking this size best.

Plus bigger phones = bigger batteries :)

I'll wait for the 6P to pop up for sale second hand or wait for a price reductions. It's not like I need it :)

Even the brand new and mighty Note 5 has just recently seen price reductions. And that's a super flagship phone just a month + after release.

Point being, the Nexus 6P will for sure gave deals going on by Thanksgiving time ( Black Friday )

Phone snobs! The Nexus 5 is still a great phone with more than good enough performance(not battery though). These spec wars and benchmarks are dumb

Problem with the 6P is its late release relative to competition. The Note 5 has already been released and has started to depreciate. A Note 5 can be bought new for around £430. Therefore even if the 6P came in at £400 new, the Note 5 would still be the obvious choice for most. However, it looks like the 6P will actually be more expensive than its main competitor.

The Nexus line was always for a niche group anyway.

Europe prices leaked.

479 for the 5X 16gb
649 for the 6P 32gb

Don't you love inflated European pricing

Looks like I don't owe a jam sandwich after all. :(

Now that's just ridiculous. I thought Google were good with international pricing. The Nexus 6 was £479 compared to the $649 in the USA. Now the 6P is going to be $499 in the states, and probably the same £479 here. I expected better from Google.

US prices for 6P are correct

$499 for 32gb
$549 for 64gb
$649 for 128gb.

Means the 64gb is the best value.

Still waiting to see what the £ equivalent is after the screw over the uk population tax on top.

God as a launch its very meh!! The dutch thunder jokes and folks desperately trying to be 'hip' are epically failing.

I have always taken these as a press release. Just showing the facts. Unlike Apple where employees are present with thunderous applause. It is only press in the room.

But very torn between the 6p and 6S+. I have a project fi invite waiting, so I think I know what to do now :)

not trying to be a debbie downer, but I think I am going to go 64 gb 6s when secondhand prices drop a bit

nexus is a great value still

if the nexus 6P was the size of the nexus 5x, I would probably bite

Yeah I found myself slowly dozing watching this keynote. I have always been a Chromecast fan but I think I am going Apple TV route.
