Anyone has an idea if Apple opens up NFC support for third parties, like the Yubikey NEO in iOS9?

I was hoping they would tell something about it yesterday, but not a word about it (or i have missed it while my kids were asking my attention).

The iPhones and Apple Watch do not have NFC readers, so there is nothing for Apple to open up. Likely due to the metal cases that would interfere with the large coils needed to generate a field.

Without the hardware to generate a field of their, iPhone and Apple Watch can only act as as an NFC card to another reader, just like the Yubikey Neo can't read your credit card.
