Sorry I didn't see an existing 2021/2022 NFL thread so I started one... really late.

Mods feel free to delete/blend mine in to an existing one...?

RAIDERS are killing me. Somehow they managed a "W" last night vs the depleted, Covid 19 ravaged, Browns, 16-14.

And English friend of mine made this rather astute, and spot on, observation:

"After 8 years Carr is still a mystery. Is he brilliant, very good, OK, very bad or a disaster?
He somehow manages to be all 5 every game."

Brilliant.

With how busy I’ve been this year, I haven’t had a chance to follow a lot of football.

Given the Packers are arguably the best team in the NFL right now, I’ll go off my tangent here:

I did watch the Packers play last night against the Browns. I have to say, I think the Packers are likely to win the Super Bowl this year, and Aaron Rodgers (Aside from he’s a -knob of a total tool bag- off the field with his trolling antics), nobody can touch him with how well he’s playing this season, and that’s with an injured left foot. For the record, I’m not a Packers fan at all, however; everything is clicking for this organization, and Matt LaFleur, [head coach], is probably one of the best coaches right now in the NFL on the offensive side of things. The main problem for the Packers right now, is injury protocol.

I do have to agree with what Troy Aikman said about the Packers a few weeks ago. (This was from commentary during a football game, but not a direct quote, but something along the lines of)……..

He said that the packers are playing good football, but they’re not playing great football, where they’re barely beating some mediocre teams. They’re going to have to step up their game.

Other thoughts.

The Cowboys, Chiefs and Buccaneers all look really good . They need to finish strong with the last two games, but are easily Super Bowl contenders.

I won’t start placing my financial bets until after the wildcard. I seem to lose money every year.😁

Truly tragic to see the Browns start a season with Superbowl Hype, and end up being "the same old Browns." They'll likely be looking to pick up a replacement QB for Mayfield to start that whole cycle again.

What happened to the Cardinals???? From the best team in the league to "we might not make the playoffs" in a hot minute.

Aaron Rogers has now proven that he's better than Favre ever was, but still won't get near the love & respect Favre did... and deservedly so. He's just boring.

The Cowboys? Like the Browns this year, they'll threaten going in, but flop like some of the best NBA players in history.

I wouldn't call Tampa losing 9-0 to New Orleans looking good. It doesn't look to me like there's a dominant team as such this year, so it just might boil down to the team that's healthiest and most consistent

Colts and Pats are a lot better than most folks think...

...just saying.
Agreed. I’d choose the Colts over the Patriots, though. The Colts can be scary good on the offensive side, where the Patriots defensively are traditionally strong.

But you’re right, either one of those teams could cause a lot of disruption in brackets.

I'm just enjoying seeing the Titans start to get players back from IR just in time for the playoffs. They still have a chance for the #1 seed in the AFC with breaking the record for most rostered players to play in a season.

Being a small market team, they hardly get talked about, but they have used 87 (could be 86 or 88) different players and have at times been running WR #8, 9 and 11 on the depth chart as their starters. And it looks like Derrick Henry will be back for the playoffs, and that should scare other teams.

Not boring, just not likeable. Favre, with all his warts, had a common man charm about him. Hail, even when he was drubbing my favorite team, I still couldn't get myself to hate the guy. Rodgers, OTOH, has the arrogance that rubs me the wrong way.

Buffalo is kinda, sorta scary good, in a way that they were prematurely ruled out early on. Like..they have potential to really alter the flow leading into the playoffs in the next few weeks.
I've been saying Josh Allen is the real deal since he got drafted. We'll see if they have what it takes to make a SB run soon enough.

The RAIDERS won! wow. Color me pleasantly surprised.

Welp, I’m calling it now, [Even without starting my playoff bracket], I suspect the Packers will win the Super Bowl in February. They’re that good.

And I’m not saying that because they clinched the #1 seed after securing the Vikings win, but they have proven how versed they are, even with injuries and other players being unavailable, and so well coached, this has to be their year. I just don’t see any team competing to the level football that they’re executing, and even to make matters more difficult, Lambeau Field has to be one of thee toughest places to play with fan noise and brutal temperatures in the single digits around that time of year.

The only afterthought I have leading into the playoffs, is the Packers traditionally don’t usually play their best football post-season for whatever reason, however; if they can tempo themselves and play accordingly, I’d say the Packers win the Super Bowl, Aaron Rodgers retires as a two-time champion, being their last Super Bowl win was 2010 under Mike McCarthy.

And if I’m wrong, I’ll eat my Cowboys hat and say three Hail Marys. 😁

I love how the Titans have taken over the #1 seed and yet, still being slept on. No one is talking about them.

And I get it, the hardnosed, physical beat you up type of football is just not sexy. It's not long passes downfield or anything. It's time of possession, keep the other teams offense off the field playstyle.

Just keep overlooking them, cause the King is coming back and he is going to be fully rested for the playoffs.

Yeah but they are just so inconsistent.

We'll see if he comes back at 100% that could be what propels them over the top to losing to Green Bay in the SB.

At least you're not a Bronco fan! We'd take Carr over any of the last 6 years of QB's we've had.

But how are they inconsistent? Cause they lost to the Jets.... that's like an every year occurrence that they lose to a bottom tier team... every year, at least once.

The Houston game that they lost was nasty weather, and they were using wr#8,9,11 on the depth chart. Ended up with 4 turnovers and still almost came back at the end.

They are getting healthy, not just Henry, but the entire team. The game against the Dolphins this last weekend... the first game all 5 starting OL played and finished the full game. Yes, including week 1.

They set the record for most players used in the season with 88 different players playing in games due to injuries.

Well they underperform against teams we think they should clobber, i.e. The Jets.

Despite the weather they are much better than the Texans and probably should have beaten them.

I think who they've lost to explains "inconsistent".

Yes, they are better than the Texans, but also had 24 people out that game.

Just like the loss to the Patriots. The Titans were down All of their playmakers on offense except Tannehill. Were also on CB # 5,6 and 7.

So for anyone who just looks at box scores, yes, they are inconsistent. Anyone who watches the game and know what's been going on, it's no where near as bad as it looks.

Just watch, the playoffs will be very interesting when it comes to teams playing the Titans.

I’d be curious to know other members predictions as of right now, [given we’re heading to the last week of the regular season], who do you think will win the Super Bowl?

And the reason I’m asking now is, that way thoughts are not compromised by the time we see the actual legit playoff bracket.

Edit:

Oh, I mentioned who I thought will win the Super Bowl earlier, I placed the Packers winning this year. So that’s my prediction and I won’t change it based on what happens in the playoffs regardless.

I'm going with the Titans. They have a dominant front 4 and a great backend on Defense. On Offense Henry is back and Aj is healthy. Thanks to all of the issues they actually have depth now that has good playtime experience.

If you want to see some of the views on the front 4, follow Brian Baldinger on twitter. He has some breakdowns that are really well done.

Do you know what I’ve learned? And this is coming from placing bets on the NFL playoffs over the years, (No, I don’t condone gambling, I don’t have a gambling problem, this is only in the NFL during playoff time.) I lost money every single year because I always placed the most popular team at the top based off analytical calculations, which statistically, those teams actually don’t win the Super Bowl.

The teams that are overlooked, often because they weren’t hyped by the media, say like the Packers are already being touted in many podcast stations about possibly winning the entire Super Bowl.

I chose the Packers to win the Super Bowl this year, given they do have direct home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, and they are very well constructed. But with the likes of Tennessee, I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually do win the Super Bowl. I think your prediction has a very strong chance of actually happening. And including myself, I need to think more strategically about teams that are not brainwashed by media, especially when the chemistry in the playoffs is totally different from the regular season with how these teams/coaching perform under pressure.
