This morning when I brought up the nfl app which has nfl network live streaming it doesn’t come up. It gives a message saying: NFL Gamepass. We are sorry for the inconvenience but we’re moving apps. Please visit nfl.com/gamepass to access gamepass to find out when your new, improved app will be live.

If I go to the site it just asks you to subscribe to gamepass for $99. So I am not sure what happened to the nfl network app. Anyone else having this issue?

I saw the same thing today. I don't know what's going on either. I hope they aren't discontinuing the app for a pay-only version.

It looks like that. Cause if you go to the site, it will ask you to subscribe and give you a link to the gamepass app. So my thinking is I won’t be able to stream NFL Network with my DIRECTV login anymore. It looks as if I will have to have a separate gamepass subscription to access it on Apple TV.

It does indeed look like that is the way the NFL is choosing to go with the NFL app, which is a shame because they will lose viewers for their app if they lock it into a for-pay model. As much as I enjoy watching the sport the NFL has got to be one of the greediest sports franchises around. One day it is going to bite them.

I've been doing a little research this morning, and maybe $100 a year for a subscription to NFL Gamepass to get the live feed of the NFL Network through the apps isn't such a bad deal.

That works out to just over $8 a month over the course of a year. If I were to subscribe to Sling TV Blue, just to get the NFL network for football season that would cost me $150 for just 6 months. The other live streaming services such as FuboTV, DTV Now, PS Vue and Hulu aren't even options since they don't carry the NFL Network (unless I just missed it).

So... maybe not such a bad thing after all? Cuss & Discuss.

[Edit] Ok, I did miss NFL Network on PS Vue, but it's still not as cost effective. At $35 a month for the Core Slim package that's $210 just for the season.

Yeah but some of us already to get NFL Network with our satellite/cable package. So I’m not going to pay an additional $100 when it already comes with my package. Just so that I can stream it on my Apple TV. They should offer the option that if you already subscribe to the service, you can use your login. And if you don’t, you can get a stand alone package.

Really? It's working for me. Although I can't seem to change any settings in the app.

I was able to get it working again on one of my Apple TV boxes by removing the app and reinstalling it a few times. The second one comes up with this error when I try to authorize it: A timeout or configuration error caused this operation to fail. The error has been logged. Please try again.

I will have to try the second box in a bit to see if it works.

Maybe there's something going on server side that is causing this.

Yeah it’s odd. I was able to authorize it again on my iPad, and one of my Apple TV devices. But when I try the other one, this is the message I get when typing in my activation code.

The app is up and running again. All I was worried about was NFL Network. No way am I paying for Sunday Ticket.

I know what you mean. The first year I paid for Sunday Ticket, around 1998, it was $99. The last year, 2011 I think, it was $350. That's an outrageous price increase. And game pass isn't a much better deal since you have to wait for the games to be over to watch them. The NFL really needs to get it's head out of the money bucket.

The only thing I liked was the red zone package. I used to be able to pay for a stand alone package for that. It was really cheap. But they took that option away. Now to get red zone. You have to buy the NFL Sunday ticket at $350.
