I decided to buy a AW5 aluminum cellular, after having a heart attack two weeks ago today, which I mentioned on another thread. I kept watching the supplies of open box at Best Buy locally. One popped up for $438 in "fair" condition. I did an online order/pickup, and when I arrived at the store about 20 minutes from my house, the only thing wrong with it to cause it to be "fair" was a missing power brick. I have quite a few of those, so that is not an issue at all. The watch itself was in great shape, and I was able to use a few gift cards from prior trade ins. I am not excited about wearing a watch after having gone without one for many years, but it will give my wife some peace of mind, and also get me moving more often than I was.

Now I just have to figure out whether to purchase AppleCare on it. Luckily BB offered a deal of the day with 50% off some of their house brand watch bands, so I was able to get a couple of options with free shipping.

Now I just have to figure out how to use it to its fullest.

Nothing is more valuable to us than our health So you did the right thing by purchasing the watch. Of course you can take care of yourself without the watch but the watch makes it much nicer so congrat!

Buy Apple Care. Sucks to pay for almost a whole new watch should you crack the screen.

Thanks much. One of the first things I did was set up the heart alerts. Feeling good now. (whew!).

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense.

I understand it doesn't directly warn about another attack. My GP (who has an AW4) told me that I also have to be concerned about a-fib, which the AW5 can warn me. yet the real reason for the purchase was the potential for falling (with another attack or something related) while I was out walking/hiking in some nearby trails,( which I often do, and which is how my heart attack started). I was hiking off the main trail a bit, with my camera. My wife (who after 41 years still wants me around for some reason) gets some peace of mind, and the watch gets to nag me about moving as opposed to her ;-) It is not often that she wants me to purchase something with the Apple logo on it (even though she has her own MBA and IPP).
