The thread was closed because too many posts were discussing the morality of whether or not it is ok to keep the phone, not simply addressing the technical issue. That kind of discussion should be kept to the Politics, Religion, Social Issues forum.

I agree with your timing of locking the thread - it is going nowhere but down.

However, I disagree that that kind of discussion solely belongs to the PRSI forum. Morality issues do arise with computers/phones/iDevices, and should be discussed accordingly, such as the events that gave rise to the said thread.

Either way, it is locked, and timely at that, so the "controversy at issue" is moot.
