Niggling little problem with microsoft word!

Ok, so I have Word 2004 student/teacher edtion.

My grammer and spell check does not work for me. every time I type the toolbox lights up and tells me that word cannot regcognise the language, I then follow the instructions to select the language (English UK) but it does not have an effect, it still says it cannot regcognise the language, and it does not spell check at all!

Such a small but annoying issue!

are you getting the documents from someone else? Sometimes when you get a document that was started by someone else it will just default to the first language. is word set to a default different langauge? you set word on english-uk as the default (the default button on the bottom left). you also need to make sure to uncheck the box that says "Do not check spelling or grammar"
