I can see how this would be useful beyond photography.
Looks a bit like a flir camera, but usable night vision would be very handy in the darkness, no waiting for bracketed shots, find your keys in real time

Or you could just use the flashlight feature of EVERY mobile phone, which is much more easily accessible. 😉

I get that one can find a specific use for any feature but let's be honest here, use cases for this are going to be very, very niche.

But at the same time...isn't the flashlight on a smartphone a niche feature?
I can count on one hand how many times that feature on any smartphone.

This is a way to see in darkness without lighting up the entire room or that you don't need to turn on the flashlight (for whatever reason lol)

But there could be an instance where you don't want to be seen for whatever reason.....
And that's just one scenario.

I wouldn't call it niche--it's one of only 2 shortcut buttons on the iPhone home screen, along with the camera and it's one of the default Actions (double chop 😜) on many Motorola phones--but sure, there are likely people like yourself you may not use it much.

You really don't use it much? Most people I know use it quite frequently. It's pretty handy here in FL were we see enough summertime power outages thanks to our 'oh so frequent' thunderstorms or worse, hurricanes.

those sound like great use cases to me 🙂 .... We have a flashlight in every room of the house and military grade ones in my hiking packs.
Would not want to go through a hurricane without power or lights lol

Same...battery packs and lights all over the place for those situations but in a quick pinch, the phone gets job done. 😁
