Nightstand mode needs a couple of options for it to be useful to me:
- colors (just like the watch faces)
- always-on (gently pulsating brightness from 100% to 50% on a 3 minute cycle like the old MacBook charging indicator)
- mirror iPhone alarms (creating an alarm on the watch should create it on the iPhone)

I really do wonder who tested out these features... Like Wiley mentioned, it doesn't seem like they thought out the practicality. You want to sell us this "amazing feature" call Nightstand mode but with so many restrictions and needs to make the feature even worth it. I would love to know how the testers didn't mention any of these following things:

1. The clock turns off. No option to keep it on if the person chooses.
2. The watch must be literally on your night stand, as the name implies. If you're the type of person who doesn't keep electronics near your beside (as it is recommended to get a better sleep), well you're screwed. Because you need to be close enough to "tap" it.
3. This "tap" doesn't work. You essentially need to be fully awake to turn it on and view the time.

For all that, you may as well just use your phone if you're going to keep a device by your bedside. Take a lot less effort to view the time on your iPhone that to mess with the watch.
