hey guys,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I picked up a 42mm Nike Apple Watch last week and I'm enjoying it. I am a runner and have always used my Garmin gps Watch with it uploading to strava. But I decided since I'm fully into the apple ecosystem it was time for me to get an Apple Watch too!

I have synced all my info to the Nike run club app but am having some issues. I consider myself quite tech savvy too!

Is there anyway to turn off the audio on both the Nike app on the phone and also on the Watch? I can't find anyway to do this and when I stop at a stoplight I'm sick of it reading every stat to me...

Also when you're using the Nike app on the Watch and running is there anyway to customize your data fields? I really like seeing my pace when I'm running but all I can see is the distance and time. I have to pause it to see the pace etc.

Sorry for the long winded post! Hopefully I will figure it out and not go back to the Garmin!

Thanks!

Thanks!

Make sure advanced mode is enabled in NRC watch app. then you should see pace/HR

As to audio:
NRC app on the phone has the controls with the Settings>VoiceFeedback section.
Watch NRC app has an on/off setting for Voiceover just below the Advanced setting.

When running with the watch, use the crown to change which metric is in big-print (distance, pace, timer).

I've not run with the AW2/NRC and my phone since most of my point in running is to get away from the world. Unfortunately NRC doesn't do autopause in standalone mode at this time. Grumble.

Thank you. But nike should implement that in next update
I sure hope so; it is a significant failing IMHO, as is the lack of any hardware button pause capability.

Have you read something where they've said they will do that? I'd appreciate a link as I'd like to follow that. Thanks.

EDIT: the below works apparently only with an internet connection, later testing away from the phone and off of my wifi network resulted in a message on screen stating Siri needed Internet to function.

Well sunuvagun. That actually works.

I put my phone into airplane mode. Opened NRC on my AW2 Nike and hit Start. Waited a few seconds watching the timer counting up, then raised my wrist up and said "Hey Siri Pause Run".

It paused.

I raised my wrist again towards my mouth and said "Hey Siri Resume Run"...

It resumed.

Thank you for finding this info.

Follow up from further testing on this morning's run.

I got ready, walked down the driveway and tried to start NRC on my watch... said I needed to run the app on my phone. WTF? Walked back inside, found my phone, launched NRC and it wasn't logged into my account. I don't remember it updating, so I'm puzzled as to what happened. Logged in to the app and had to re-establish my settings such as no voiceover, no 3-2-1 countdown, etc. I put the phone into airplane mode just in case, and went back out.

NRC on the watch now started fine. Also had to reset the settings, turning Advanced mode back on.

Siri did not work -- apparently earlier my watch was on wifi so it worked. No internet connection equals no siri; not a surprise.

Strangely, now AutoPause was working. Either I didn't give it enough time in prior testing while I was stopped waiting for traffic to clear, or something in the app changed. There's the usual gps-based lag for auto pause to engage and disengage, but it was working satisfactorily.

Incorrect. It worked when I was just using my Watch. I left the phone at home.

You apparently didn't read the entire thread before responding. On Saturday I wrote the following:

And for some reason, Nike's own support page states that it doesn't work... even though it does....

Note: Auto-pause is unavailable in stand-alone mode. If using the watch in stand-alone mode, perform a manual pause or resume.
