I'd really like to see this of the Fitbit Force come with the option to calibrate the devices for wearing on an ankle. I wouldn't mind a fitness tracker, but I don't really want to give up my watch and I think having two devices would be a bit daft. Would love to be able to get reliable readings while wearing these under a sock.

What a disappointment this is. Just a few days ago I was wondering who would buy the Fitbit Force w/ the FB2 coming out. But no more. I think the Force might become the new leader of the pack. (The Polar Loop looks interesting but hate that you have to destroy the band to fit your wrist -- kills hand-me-down value).

I have pre-ordered both the FB SE and Force to test out. The only reason I even bothered with the FB SE is because it looks like Nike improved it to track exercise while on a machine. This is going to be my sole criterion. Otherwise it goes back and I go with the Force.

Just hoping the Apple watch isn't as milquetoast as either of these.

I use a Fitbit Flex and like it, but am interested in Nike's band, as well. I do want to try the Fitbit Force, I like the new design having a closed back and the time, and definitely interested in the iOS 7 integration with it. Does the Fuelband track sleep like the Fitbit? Also, what is the average battery life of the Fuelband?

I'm a fencer and have been looking into the fitbit flex for a while. But the Force version seems to be more of what I need to track food intake, sleep, calories burned and all that. I can wear it in my fencing jacket sleeve without any damage.

What I hope is Apple doesn't make their watch device flimsy and design it to be "ruggedized" because that's the only way for it to be sturdy and waterproof without trying too hard to be fashionable.

It's a good thing I upgraded to the 5c white ( it's surprisingly well built ) and has the Bluetooth I need compared to the ip4 I had. Much faster and responsive without the overkill features.

I'm still fascinated by the fitbit tech and find ways to use it to help me stay healthy and fit.

I was hoping for a bigger update.
Really like my Fuelband. It has made me get up and go for an evening walk on days that I don't hit my 3k fuel goal, and it's a nifty timepiece when running.

Lol. Outside of sponsored athletes, never seen anyone who paid $149 for one of these that was actually in shape.

I find that my fuelband from last January works quite well for what it is. I'm glad to hear they are making the time easier to access, since cycling through the other options (and having wait for it to blink "TIME" at you) is a nuisance. Maybe they can bring that to old devices via software update?
I'm really surprised they haven't added a heart rate monitor. That seems like a no-brainer in a wrist-based device, and would bring a great deal more information to the user.
All told, this will in no way prompt me to upgrade, but for first-timers this sounds like making a solid device a little bit better.

Maybe they are just starting a regime? Buying one doesn't make you fit it only helps to help the user motivate themselves.

Just b/c you've never seen them doesn't mean they don't exist. And I doubt you look for them. I wear a FB except when it charging and night social events - I switch to a reg. watch. My BMI is 21 & I run 30 miles a week so there's that.

Honestly though, I do look for people wearing any kind of tracker & I've never seen a single person with one. Period. The bands are popular but nit in the same way the iPhone or even Brooks shoes are.

The Flex does all the above (well food you have to put in manually, which makes me skip on that part), so if you don't care about the time and iOS 7 call notifications, you could potentially save yourself 30 bucks and opt for the Flex instead of the Force, if you want a smaller wristband.

Been seriously thinking of the Flex until Force was unveiled. It sounds like the only addition in Force is the time clock on it even though it shares all the same features the Flex has.

When you say call notifications, does it notify incoming text messages? Since I'm deaf/hard of hearing, I don't think I need that aspect of the Force since the phone itself does the job well enough for me.

I don't mind manually entering info on food via ios 7.

I still think my Jawbone Up is a great product and this Nike band doesn't have enough features to take me away from it. From my experience, the Jawbone just works (I know there have been problems in the past, but mine has worked like a dream).

All I'm saying is that the Nike release can't hurt.....competition is always always a good thing!

I'm under the assumption that it is only calls and not texts...... yet.

I'm sure that's probably what it is. Calls only. I do hope that the iPhone 5c is compatible with the Flex for syncing or such. I was told by support from fitbit that it's not otherwise it's on the list of compatible devices. I kind of like the idea of the wrist device used to wake people up from sleeps or power naps. Very useful.

All that said, I was disappointed by the announcement today too - really would have loved to have seen the vibrating alarm function. Hopefully Apple will announce the iWatch a week from today so we can see how that compares.
Apple will not launch the iWatch next week. Don't hold your breath.

IF (a big if) Apple is ever going to launch a smartwatch, it will have its own keynote announcement. Anyway I highly doubt if Apple will release any smartwatch at all.

I bought this in may 2012 when i started my weight loss journey and i lost 28 kilos until now. I have made my fuel target everyday since i got it. I am not a sponsored athlete.

Shift Work sleep issues are my 500lb gorilla. I need something that monitors sleep well. I've worn pedometers before, 10k steps a day just a typical work night . The original FB was a no, I was thinking Flex but I didn't want something so wide . Now I'm going to see how the SE works in the real world.
