is there a hack to make this work with any of the other ipods, or is it going to be proprietary. I would like it to work on my 3g and don't really need a new ipod, nor would get a nano at this point.

No, it won't now and won't ever work with Hard Drive based iPods.

It would cost Apple far too much in running-related repairs to the HDD, the reason they chose the nano is because of the flash memory that hasno moving parts.

I've started a new exercise /running routine, I'm so looking forward to getting it next week. :D
It's not even available in Canada. How long does it usually take?

Is it actually any good?

So, any word on if its actually any good? do you have to spend ages fiddling with the device and tunes before it works? or shall i just stick with the regular ipod

also.. is it really worth it, or is it a gimmick? it looks quite cool and i do need some new trainers ... ;)

and... can anyone actually keep those standard ipod headphones in whilst running?!!?

I bought a Sony pair that wraps around the ears, and has a clip that you attach the wires to your shirt so that as you're running, the wires don't pull down on the ear buds. I think they're made for running, and they work great!

ps. The Nike sport kit just came available in the Apple store so I bought one. Should arrive in 8 days! :D

It works really well.

No need to fiddle with it... it works right out of the box. You can easily calibrate it for better accuracy.

It's absolutely worth $30. I think it's also worth the price of a nano + $30.

You don't need to buy the Nike+ shoes. It works with any trainers.

I can't run with the standard iPod earbuds. I prefer these.

I've found that if you slide that little plastic piece that holds the two earbud wires together snuggly up under your chin, that the earbuds hold just fine for long runs. Maybe my ears are just oddly built, though :p
