Hi all, I'm posting this here since the iOS 10 forum doesn't appear to have any insight.

With the NRC App revamp earlier this year, the application was able to do the following: you could complete a run using the Apple Watch workout app. And then the NRC app would pull that run data from iOS health syncing the run to the NRC app. Thereby eliminating the need for me to hand enter a run into the NRC app which I had completed using the Apple Watch workout app.

About two or three updates ago this functionality stopped working. I believe if I complete a run using the NRC app it will still sync to the run to iOS Health. Is anyone able to log a run using the Apple Watch workout app and then following the run the NRC app pulls the sync data from iOS health completing the sync in that direction?

As far as I can tell, if you do a run in Nike app, it shows up in Activity (provided you've given Nike app permission to write to Health data), but doing a run in Apple Workout doesn't show in Nike.

Thanks for the reply. Now I know it's working consistently for other users. I'm a bit disappointed that they took this feature out. It was working for several weeks in the other direction. Perhaps they'll put it back in, otherwise why are they asking for permission to "read" data from iOS Health.

Thanks again for letting me know I'm not alone! Ha!

I ran yesterday, started a run on my watch using the stock outdoor run, then on my phone I started the run on the Nike run club iPhone app. At the end under the workout list it shows I did 2 runs, one was tagged NRC beside it. Seems to be the exact same data. Not sure if this is what your asking though.

No, if you look in your Nike app, you'll see that it keeps a record of your past runs, too. What the OP was asking is if you do a run using Apple Workout only, would that get added to the record of runs in the Nike app.

Exactly. Thank you.

Ok, thanks for that, mine does not add anything to the Nike app, I have done a bunch of runs and nothing was added to the Nike app till I started the Nike app and started a run then it and the exercise app both added a run to the list, looks like I done two runs.

It's pretty much the same data and I won't use the Nike app any more just so it doesn't show double what I done.

When you say it showed double, you mean you started both the Nike app and Workout? Just use Nike, and it'll show up only once.

One advantage of using Nike is if you go to their website, you can see a graph of your run, and see your stats at any particular point on the run.

Yea I started both, started the Nike on my phone and the stock Apple one from my watch. I will try what you suggested this afternoon on my 5k run.

I do wonder like where me and my wife shares our stats, will she get the same notice that I completed a workout using Nike like she does when I do one from the stock app?

There's a way to get notice that someone completed a workout? How do you do that?

Since I had no idea you could do that, I have no idea how Nike works with that. :p

Me and my wife share our date, in the activity app on the phone in the lower right hand side of the screen there is a sharing tab. I get a notice that she completed a workout or reached a daily goal, she gets the same from my watch. Kinda neat I think.

Oh, ok, I knew there was a sharing tab in the Activity app, but I didn't know you got a notice if someone you are sharing with completed a workout. I don't have anyone to share with, lol.

I didn't know about the notification thing either. I'm sharing with two friends, but it seems they don't workout very much.

I can't believe Nike took the reverse sync (Apple Workout --> NRC) out. Maybe because they are pushing using NRC in the new Nike+ Apple Watch?

Who knows? It could be that, or it could be they had problems with the reverse sync.

I'm more disappointed by the fact that starting NRC from my phone doesn't also start it on the watch, and also it doesn't seem to read heart rate info. I'm trying out their MyCoach training routine, but that only seems to work from the phone, so no heart rate. :(

Good call on those being issues as well. I also noticed that NRC integrated Siri Kit, so you can start/Pause/End a run on your phone using Siri, however, it seems Siri kit doesn't work on Apple Watch, so you cannot start an NRC run on the Apple Watch via Siri.

I'm a little bit weary to try the NRC Apple Watch run until another couple updates because last time I used it, it somehow lost 75% of my run - seemed to be a timeout issue.

How has NRC on Apple Watch been for you as far as accuracy and reliability?

I tried it first on my S0 watch, I believe before the latest update. It crashed a few times, losing the data. I just got my Nike+ watch on the 28th, and set it up and started playing with it on the 29th. But I've been more focused on trying the MyCoach routine so I have so far only tried one run (well, I actually walk, but Nike+ only tracks "runs") on the watch. I might try another run today, though I'm also trying out RunKeeper, so I might just use that today.

As far as distance, all my walks seem to be measured correctly. I mean, I'm not going for super accuracy here, I wouldn't know if it was off by a tenth of a mile or so. But the problem was the app tending to crash.

I remember reading somewhere that the Apple Workout app doesn't make its GPS data accessible, so that may be a factor. Just guessing.

I'm disappointed that NRC doesn't support autopause in standalone mode, nor does it seem to have any way to pause/resume the run except via the screen. That's pretty basic functionality they're missing for those of us who *want* to leave our phones behind and who have to cross busy streets in the course of a run.

OP I feel your pain. I noticed that feature and was really really annoyed when they took it out... especially because there was a period when the NRC watch app was unreliable on my watch. I was using the workout app to run and then had to manually enter runs into NRC.

I hear you, it makes me feel a little better to know that it's not just my set up. And that the feature was removed. I received an email from Nike support confirming that this feature had been removed. Hopefully they'll decide to put it back in the future.
