In terms of Nike Watch vs Apple Watch and which to choose: that decision was made for me in that I happened to have a sizable Nike gift certificate to apply. No brainer there! But as a non-runner, the true benefits of the Nike exclusive features are lost on me so I use the watch as if it were just the Apple version with the exception that I use a Nike watch face sometimes.
The value to Apple is huge, I think. Nike is an excellent channel through which the Watch can be sold and hopefully runner specific features are indeed of value to Nike customers. If I had to choose which watch to get again, I'd probably go Nike again, even without the financial benefit, unless there's something about the Apple version that I must have, like color, watch band or something ultimately superficial to watch function. If you're deciding between the two and you think you could use the Nike features in any way, go with Nike.
