In terms of Nike Watch vs Apple Watch and which to choose: that decision was made for me in that I happened to have a sizable Nike gift certificate to apply. No brainer there! But as a non-runner, the true benefits of the Nike exclusive features are lost on me so I use the watch as if it were just the Apple version with the exception that I use a Nike watch face sometimes.

The value to Apple is huge, I think. Nike is an excellent channel through which the Watch can be sold and hopefully runner specific features are indeed of value to Nike customers. If I had to choose which watch to get again, I'd probably go Nike again, even without the financial benefit, unless there's something about the Apple version that I must have, like color, watch band or something ultimately superficial to watch function. If you're deciding between the two and you think you could use the Nike features in any way, go with Nike.

Happy user of Apple Watch Nike Series 2 here for many years. I really got used to the Nike watch faces, esp. the one with digital big numerals is the one I use ~90% of time.

Considering an upgrade to Series 6 now. Based on look I am tempted to go with the black titanium model with green woven loop. Really sad none of this is offered as a Nike version. If I understood correctly, I'd lose my favorite watch face…?

I don't see how you'd be able to keep it. Apple Series 6 is going to run the standard version of WatchOS 7 that doesn't have the "Nike" named watch faces available. There are other watch faces that have large numerals that might be adequate replacement though?

Why does nike get exclusive rights to the Apple watch while fortnight, a game about running, can't be used on the Apple Watch!!!!1!!! Proof not all developers are treated equally!

I like that black and white tho.

Um ... are you actually serious? I cannot tell really.

Nike has a breadth of information for health, accessories, and running - years worth specifically: from efficiencies of strides, steps, cadence ... all things I'm sure Apple has worked with them about. You're also forgetting their partnership since the shoe fob back when the iPod was around years before the iPhone debuted.

Nice to see better bands and darkened space grey for Nike+ S6. I was hoping for SS along with crystal for the display vs Ion-X Glass but c'est la vie.

Quite disappointing. It's an artificial limitation by software to only show the Nike faces on specific models.
Not being able to access such software feature while paying a much higher price for the titanium edition is pretty weird… and even dumb… I guess i will just get the cheaper Nike Watch then.

I am serious, most of my stuff is black and white.

So the new watch faces are for S6 only? Damn..

I have a S4 and with WatchOS 7 there is the Nike Compact face that I can get to look like the picture by changing the color scheme to Pure Platinum/Black and the clock face style to match. However, I'm not sure the quick start and miles logged feature is available on my S4 unless that's from the Nike Run Club app. I'm no runner so I maybe someone else knows. But the face style if you like it is there for S4 at least.

I have S4 with watch OS7. I deleted NRC app on my iPhone and on the watch and re installed and now I have the exact face as the article.

Cheers

You sure you didn’t mistake it for the “Nike Compact” one? Please post a screenshot here for us to see it if you don’t mind? :)

Something is not clear for me with this update. Only the watch faces are exclusive for the Nike edition or some NRC features as well during run? It would be great to use the colored running mode function on a regular AW S6. Does anyone has information about this?

Ah, I just figured it out how to get that Nike watchface even on AW4! See the attached screenshot below.

Bought the Nike S6 Silver purely because it was presented with a purple/blue sport loop. The Nike sport loop bands are just nicer than those from Apple. Couldn’t care for any of the specific Nike Fitness Apps.

If one were interested in an aluminum space gray watch, are there any differences between the standard Apple Watch vs Nike (aside from the initial band selection)? Seems like there’s an upside to purchasing the Nike watch for exclusive watch faces.

Just the new faces and holey sport bands/exclusive colors for the sport loops, which I will miss. After exclusively choosing the Nike models of the series 3 and 4 (I even had Nikes own fitness trackers back in the day which looked so awesome but was made so poorly), I’ve opted for the Apple-only model in favor of it coming with the new solo loop which is so worth it. I’m liking how supple and soft this new band is and happy I opted for it and got my watch early rather than waiting the usual week or two for the Nike model that only offers the previous bands. Obviously if you’re a BANDit(see what I did there?), you could just throw more money at Apple and get the solo loop later). I still have my old Nike bands anyway but will still miss the Nike faces...
