I failed to do any research prior to buying my receiver, so I bought shoes that were nike+ compatible mind you I felt like an idiot with nike+ in mind as making my selection abysmal. I ended up returning the shoes, and my new ones has a possible solution.

I have an iPhone 3gs, gps technology... I don't really need it, but I spent the $20 on the receiver because I had the shoes.

In the heel, I've jammed the nike+ into the space, it's extremely secure but I'm unsure whether it would suffice. So should I give it a try, mount it to my shoelace or use something like runkeeper?

While I still use an old 2 gen nano with the Nike+ kit, my solution:

velcro'd between the tounge and underneath the shoelaces. I run 3 times a week; rain or shine, and yet to have an issue with the receiver.
