    From Daring Fireball:

Here's the story. Here's the relevant quote:

I wonder if this will be like Canon v. Nikon. Canon once focused on consumer cameras then moved into the professional market. Nikon once focused on professional cameras and moved into the consumer market. Today, I think Canon is far more profitable, yet Nikon does very well and people swear by their products. In a very broad sense, you can see a parallel to Canon and Nintendo. and Nikon and Apple.

I'm also wondering if this won't be more toxic than Canon v. Nikon. I'm guessing that Apple's subliminal marketing pitch will be anything that has Nintendo's name on it will be cast as coming from a little Italian man in a red jumpsuit. I can't wait for the I'm a Mac, I'm a Nintendo ads.

Nintendo dropped the ball a long time ago when they started making only children's games and shovelware. If iphone games are competing with your console then you obviously failed.

Everyone I know with a wii keeps it in their closet collecting dust because they play their ps3 and xbox360. Apple should just buy nintendo and be done with it but we know that won't ever happen since steve jobs hates video games.
