The Zelda games on the original Nintendo DS were completely stylus controlled from what I remember. They were more along the lines of the top-down, classic NES/SNES Zelda games though, but it could definitely work on iPhone if they went that route.

Interesting. With the control scheme in Zelda games being so complicated, I'd be very curious how they would adapt for iOS/Android. Especially since BotW is so perfect.

It will be an infinite runner.

Imagine space invaders but with Link at the bottom with his magic shooting sword and octoroks, moblins and tektites at the top. That's what it'll be. :p

I'd play that.

Would be nice if they had an Apple TV version.

I'd like Nintendo to get out of the hardware business entirely. The Switch has many issues, not the least of which is that Nintendo probably doesn't make any money on the basic set. But man is Zelda a great game. I got the Switch and Zelda for my girlfriend and she loves it. I've played it a bit and it is nearly a console seller by itself. Great game. But the hardware isn't great graphics, GF practically immediately scratched her Switch's screen (screen protector arrived in mail the next day), and controllers are small so a real controller needs to be bought separately.

If they can get Zelda running on the Wii-U, then I suspect they could have gotten it running on Apple TV, iPad and iPhone. Require a nice controller so you get the full experience, fine. Just release a controller that mounts the iPhone and there is your switch experience.

I am praying for a return to some kind of sprite-based, old-school Zelda that might be easier to control and look nice on iPhone. Or maybe even something like A Link Between Worlds.

If they remade the original Game Boy Legend of Links Awakening, I would buy it immediately, if for nothing more than the nostalgia.

But I am putting my money on some bogus mini games or a card type game, that will probably only be playable when connected online.

Breath of the Wild might be the most fun I've ever had playing a video game, and I've played nearly every console since the NES when I was a kid. I have never put this many hours into a video game, except for maybe various Halo multiplayer titles while in college. I'm kind of embarrassed to say how many hours, but it's a lot, and it's easier than ever to put time into a massive, open world, AAA game because it's portable and I can play it during lunch at work, while traveling, in bed before going to sleep, etc. It has really cut down on the amount of time I screw around on my iPhone.

This sounds appealing to me.

I actually never even considered a switch until I read your comment. It would be quite nice to get back into gaming more, and a portable system would help immensely.

Any other notable non-child games on Switch yet?

Congratulations, you have collected 4 heart pieces. You can form them into an additional heart container for $2.99 or release the heart pieces back into the wild?
- Pay $2.99
- Release Heart Pieces

Me: FAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...
....ail?
....ake?
...at?
...ame?
...a la la?
Genuinely curious as to where that 'fa' was leading. Hopefully I'm not just being oblivious to the obvious.

it's gonna be a mini Zelda themed game..like cross bow training or such maybe top view..not full on action adventure Zelda obviously.

[QUOTE="You think Nintendo is dumb enough to release a full fledged Zelda game on a mobile platform?[/QUOTE]

I'm dumb enough to hope lol :p

You absolutely nailed the core of my comment. I don't have much time for gaming any more, which makes me sad, and the Switch totally enables me to squeeze in legit, non-mobile mobile gaming throughout the day, if that makes sense!

Some people might consider Zelda a child's game. This one strikes a bit more of an adult tone, but it's still not heavy. Still a fair bit of violence and even a few characters that are a little suggestive sprinkled in rarely. There are a lot of indie games. My wife likes playing Snipperclips with me, which is a $20 puzzler that has simple kid-like graphics. I also picked up Fast RMX, which is Wipeout like clone that is fun, and it was only $20. Otherwise not much non-kid stuff. I've got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is a pretty good deal as it has 48 tracks for $60, and Minecraft, which was $30, and I play both of those with my kid. I don't really know a lot about Shovel Knight or I am Setsuna. Arms is coming out soon and that looks like an interesting take on a fighting game using the joycons. Splatoon 2 is coming out. I've never played it, but it's like a kid-friendly shooter using paint that a lot of people seem to enjoy. Some older games like Payday 2 and Skyrim are coming if you haven't gotten into those. Some newer games like Steep, FIFA and NBA 2K18 are also in the works if you like sports/extreme sports games. The game I'm most looking forward to is Super Mario Odyssey which looks to harken back to the Mario 64 days but looks a little more grown up—at least in the city scenes—so we'll see.

I think the Switch caught a lot of game devs off guard, and more have been pledging to add support every day. So far it has been selling better than the original Wii, which is pretty freakin good. And unlike the Wii, the controller is a lot better for playing non-motion based games, and they've got a good pro controller at launch, so we should see a lot more ports. We often travel halfway across the state and I have to stay with my mother in law. The Switch is a godsend for weekends like that where there is zero chance of me being productive on my house to-do list and zero chance of me (prior to the Switch) getting to play games that aren't some free to play iPhone crap. What I really like about it compared to my Xbox One is that it's not bloated with a bunch of extra features that I already have on my iPhone. The Switch wakes instantly like an iPhone and resumes the game immediately after unlocking. Going to the home screen is instantaneous, but the initial load for games can be a little long. It feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the Xbox, even if it doesn't have many features.

My biggest gripe with the system so far is that battery usually only lasts 3 hours (though I rarely have that much time to sit and play, especially without access to an outlet), it doesn't yet support wireless headphones so I can't use my AirPods, even though it's supposed to have bluetooth, there's no way to back up save games to the cloud or even a micro sd card, and at some point you'll need a micro-sd card to store games as it only has 32GB of storage. So far I have all of my games on there with a few gigs to spare, but I'm pretty sure the Zelda DLC updates this summer might put me over. I prefer digital games, but if you buy carts this won't be a problem. Also, some people think the graphics suck compared to home consoles, but they're pretty good for a mobile device. I think when mobile it's slightly faster than an Xbox 360 but has 8 times the RAM and runs 720p which means the graphical effects are more advanced, and when docked it's around half the speed of an Xbox One so basically the better than 360 looking graphics scaled up to 1080p. If you're mostly going to use the device docked, then just get a PS4 Pro or the new Xbox Scorpio coming out this autumn. Otherwise, if you prefer mobile but occasionally want to dock, the Switch is good. Or if you just want to play Zelda, I think the price might even be justified for that. Just don't expect it to have a lot of games right away. Fortunately Breath of the Wild will keep you busy for a while. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.
