Nintendo today announced a new mobile game called Pictonico, which is set to launch on Thursday, May 28. Pictonico turns photos into minigames like those you see in WarioWare.

The app's website features players taking photos of themselves and their friends, with the app altering the photos in different ways. In one example, the person's mouth opens up widely to chomp on corn with a tap, and in another, a person is bundled up with a mummy and the goal is to unwrap the mummy.

There are 80 minigames to play through, at normal, high-speed, and danger zone speeds that make gameplay more challenging. As players progress through the levels, the game will get more difficult. Pictonico can use photos from the Photo Library, or photos taken with the iPhone's camera from the game interface. Nintendo says that photos remain on device and are not sent to its servers.

Pictonico was co-developed with Intelligent Systems, which is the studio that created the WarioWare game series.

According to Nintendo, the game is free to try, with three minigames available at no cost. Unlocking the "Volume 1" games costs $7.99, while a "Volume 2" series is available for $5.99.

Pictonico is available for pre-order from the App Store. [Direct Link]

If we're talking about Nintendo I just want to say I'm still frustrated that they didn't work with Ubisoft Annecy Steep to bring Steep to the platform. And if it was because the first switch wasn't powerful enough then first of all they could have released a toned down version to use less resources, but I kinda don't buy it because Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is an atmospheric open world game similar to the size and scope of Steep, so it would seem it's plenty capable. And now that switch2 is more capable and on par with Xbox Series S / PS4, and has games like Cyberpunk etc - it's time they should release it for Switch2, again, even if it has to be tuned down slightly and have some game mechanics changed etc - it's fine, but it's still worth it to have it on the platform.

I am not the target market as I am actually a long time gamer and not someone with brainrot. I felt as excited as watching MS promoting the future of Xbox some time ago.
When did we become so jaded? Had this been a 3DS game people would be all over it. Switch the platform to mobile and suddenly it’s the end of the world.

The world needs more games, and certainly more mobile games like this. Inventive and hilarious!

How about no? As in, I wouldn't like it on any system. Thank you for your cooperation.

I can smell the lawsuits and dramas in schools and companies where pictures of people taken without consent will be used to mock them in dumb games by colleagues and "friends".

What a world we live in !

I agree. But “3DS”?? What year do you think we’re currently living in?

Will try it out, might be a fun game to play. However not happy with the idea of uploading pictures. Privacy could be an issue.

NINTENDO: Make more Switch 2 games! And I’m not talking about the third release of Star Fox 64 29 years later and it’s creepy reskin. Or remasters of Galaxy. Where the hell is the new 3D Mario?? It has been 9 years since Odyssey.

"As a long-time gamer", you should know that this game doesn’t come from the so-called “brainrot” generation, it’s actually a twist on WarioWare (2003)

Thanks for downvoting several of my posts.
I don't consider WarioWare much better.
Also, I don't consider any generation as brainrot. People of all ages have it.
Have a nice day.

Curious why you are so vocal about hating this game? Certainly you don’t post on every single thing on the internet you don’t like? It’s just kinda odd. It’s just a fun little game. No one is claiming this is some gaming masterpiece.

I don't hate it. You just assumed I do because some of you are of the logic "with us or against us". Any form of criticism = hatred. Think about it.
