Apparently Apple still thinks the 16GB is enough for a phone with 12MP camera, increased video recording options, increasing app sizes. 16GB wasn't enough when introduced back in 2010, and it will certainly be not enough in 2015.

Really disappointing but I was expecting that. With iOS 9 they introduced app thinning to save storage space on the device and iOS 9 footprint will be lower to allow more people to upgrade OTA so they may stick with 16GB one more year.
$100 more for me to pay next month

Can you buy an iPhone 6 now with 32GB? Why would anyone expect anything different with the s model.

Would you rather buy an iPhone 6s with 32 gig for a 749 or would you want to get an iPhone 6s with 64gb for 749?

Can you imagine the outcry if apple rolled out a 32GB iPhone 6s for 749 when its older brother was sold for the same price but had 64GB.

He was of course referring to the cheapest phone being 32 GB.

Can you imagine the outcry if apple rolled out a 32GB iPhone 6s for 749 when its older brother was sold for the same price but had 64GB.
Yeah, what an outcry if Apple upgraded their phones. What rage if still didnt have the iPhone 2G. Og wait?

I believe we all were expecting 32Gb for $649. Why would we expect 32GB for $749?

I can't fathom how anyone is shocked by this, as the writing was on the wall, almost literally: Phil Schiller talked about why the 16GB remains just 8 weeks ago
.
They've reduced file sizes, optimized apps, and built up auto-delete and restoration of apps specifically so they can justify this. The 16GB will remain to be a best-seller for first-time owners and those who just don't care (like my mom).

I disagree with the move, but I can't imagine why anyone is surprised/shocked by it. Hope springs eternal, I suppose.

How long was this interview, they have a lot of water to go through.

If this is true, then I won't be surprised. If I end up getting the 6s, I'll be going for the 64GB model anyway.

This years model worked perfectly for Apple and pretty decent for me. The 16 GB was never enough for me, so I at least went with 32. This year I got 64 for the price of last years 32.

For people who didn't care, they still bought the 16GB. Many others spent an extra $100 to bump up to 64GB just because it seemed like a good value. I would bet the profit for Apple from the $100 bump to 64GB was 100 times more than when the 32GB was $100 more.

It's all about the bottom line with Apple. Do you really think they care if they piss off a few keyboard critics ?
Anyone with half a brain knows 16gb is no where enough...if the phone is used to its full potential. But for the not-so-tech-savvy, the cheaper option will always win out.

If they bump the base model to 32gb, they wont sell as many 64gb at a higher profit. Not sure why people are getting mad.

It's like buying a car, you can get a base model or step up to a higher trim if you need more features.

That's exactly why people get mad, they have to spend $100 more for their phone to be usable for a while. Including me; if the base option was 32GB, I'd go for that, but there's no way I'll get by with 16GB, therefore I "have to" buy 64GB.

Why not 32gb for the 16GB price from last year? They made the 64GB the same price as 32GB. They should offer 32, 64 and 128 at the same prices as last year. 16GB is just not enough storage space anymore.

I'm afraid we'll have to wait another year for the 32GB base model.
iOS 9 footprint and app thinning will help customers, but with more MP on the camera pics on the phone will fill the available space faster. And if the 4K rumour is true it will be quite difficult to shot video with that quality having only 16GB on storage.
