I think they will keep the same structure as current. 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. This is only an "S" update. It would be nice for the base model to be 32GB but as Apple would lose out on a lot of sales for the mid-tier phone because 32GB would be enough storage for the majority. So, really from a financial standpoint Apple will likely not change because it basically forces the upsell for $100 more.

They should truly truly truly make the 16 GB price point lower and reintroduce 32 GB at the current 16GB price.

Really disappointing but I was expecting that. With iOS 9 they introduced app thinning to save storage space on the device and iOS 9 footprint will be lower to allow more people to upgrade OTA so they may stick with 16GB one more year.
$100 more for me to pay next month

Seems that it would be cheaper to just start out with 32gb of ram instead of putting all these engineers on things like app thinning.

then iCloud would be useless. no need to store anything in the cloud when you have enough storage on your phone. though I would too like to see that price but it isn't happening as much as we want it.

I won't disagree with you, but I will say that apple isn't about low price points, but quite the opposite. So much so, I don't think that really entered into their brains.

You make it sound like app thinning is a bad thing and wasted time spent on Apple. It gives you more room for more content regardless of which model you have, which is always a good thing.

Also you're confusing storage with ram. Most computer don't even have 32gb of ram today, so I highly doubt any phone would have that as base.

Apparently Apple still thinks the 16GB is enough for a phone with 12MP camera, increased video recording options, increasing app sizes. 16GB wasn't enough when introduced back in 2010, and it will certainly be not enough in 2015.

Amazing that this surprises anyone in here. It will be 16, 64, 128. This will force those who actually use a Smartphone as a Smartphone to upgrade to the 64g as entry. This also forces those who insist that 16g is enough to use more iCloud space. iCloud being the most poorly designed, under developed Cloud Service on Earth. This has cemented my decision to forgo the 6s. Don't rule out the possibility of an iPhone 7 starting at 16g either. Tim is a prostitute to shareholders. He is a Melanoma on the face of Apple. Simply grotesque greed. Nothing more. :apple:

I'm getting by with 16GB. I'd never fill up a 64GB phone so I'm making due.

That's exactly why people get mad, they have to spend $100 more for their phone to be usable for a while. Including me; if the base option was 32GB, I'd go for that, but there's no way I'll get by with 16GB, therefore I "have to" buy 64GB.

For the same price as the 32 gig was...

Actually, last time they bumped the base storage capacity was with "S" update - 3GS. It was with 3GS that the base capacity was set to 16 GB. Before that 3G was released with 8GB base capacity.
