Please tell me Apple have included the ability to MMS with the iPhone 2...Emailing an image is fine but not everyone can get on email on the move! Some people still use MMS

Yeah I don't think they're going to implement it. I want it, but oh well.

You're just going to get a bunch of people telling you, "MMS is dead! Ask any company, no one uses it any more!"

I really wish they had out that in....maybe it will make the cut(seems unlikely)

I could go for

MMS
Video Recording
Zoom while taking picture
3.2 megapixels

But for 199/299, I'm pretty freaking happy!

Plus all but the last can come in a software update/3rd party apps

They want you to use the new Mobile Me which if you were watching, has the ability to send photos to anyone from your iPhone.

You can send (through MMS, not email) and receive pictures (properly, not that stupid website thing) with the iPhone if you have MobileMe?

So what is the hold up on MMS? Its just some code to be written, right? Does Apple not want it, or does it impact ATT in a way they can't make money on?

I have a feeling it will never be added because Apple feels it is old dead technology. Remember when people complained because Macs had no floppy drive?

This may be another legacy issue that Apple will never address, similar to the missing 4:3 screen support for :apple:TV. Just because it is legacy doesn't mean it is worthless (but Apple seems to think so).

so for £59 a year i can send photos through Mobile Me to other peoples Email services? how exactly does that compare to a one off charge for a service o2 offers as standard. Essentially the iPhone stops you from making use of a service your service provider OFFERS as standard.

*sigh* This is the first thing my wife asked when I sent her a text about the new iPhone: "So can the new faster, cheaper, fancier iPhone send pictures of the kids to my phone?". Still no.. :(

I don't get why people would say that MMS is a dead feature. My friends and I use it all the time. To me it is inexcusable that MMS wasn't on the iPhone from the beginning.

As anyone ever gotten an answer from an apple rep why there isn't mms? There has been a long period where there have been tons of interviews about the phone and it's hard to believe no one has asked about copy and past or mms..?

They did specifically say the Camera was accessible to other applications, so I dont see what is to stop individual operators developing an MMS application. In addition in could be Operator Specific, for example o2 could create an app which also allowed access to the Bluebook.

I would have thought for a technology to be classed as "dead", there would have to be something to replace it.

What's the alternative to MMS?

Do you seriously think there won't be a MMS app on the App Store when it launches?
