Now if this were Brighten, Bolton or a Sheffield, then a case could be made that the investment might not bring much higher value.
Well Saudi Arabia bought Newcastle, who haven't won anything in centuries. Man City hadn't won anything in decades before they were bought up. They were not considered a 'big' club outside Manchester, at all. They certainly weren't contenders until they became a laundry. Both clubs do have relatively large support, but none of this actually matters; some billionaire could buy Accrington Stanley ffs, and buy success. That is the modern model in football. Chelsea were perhaps the first club to benefit greatly from dirty money, and NUFC certainly won't be the last.

Saudi Arabia certainty has money to throw around. Heck they've offered $225 million to CR7 for 3 years to play in SA. Newcastle has perceived value because of their history regardless of their lack of success. Back in the early 90's my friends wife told me she had Alan Shearer posters in her bedroom growing up. She lives in the US. They also have a mega huge fanbase as you know aka "The Toon Army". So there is value there.

ManC is in the same league and are derby rivals to ManU so there is also value there for investors.

Daily star is not a reputable publication in Britain, most of the media in Britain is as reputable as most of the media in the USA, sadly it's a theme now in the Western World 😏
I’m British so I do know lol.

I believe it was a Daily Telegraph reporter who tweeted it first then everyone else followed.
